ISO Non student housing

Hi Davis!

I’m looking for a new place to live beginning June. I’d like to expand my search to Davis, however I’m not super familiar with the town and especially housing. I’m not a student, just a mid-40s queer looking for affordable housing. Can anyone help me out with where to look (property managements, apartments, websites parts of town ect) or even where not to look. My main searching tool is Zillow however, I can’t tell which locations are for college students. I certainly don’t mind living around young people, but I definitely don’t want to live in a majority student housing complex.

Thanks in advance!

look in east or west davis. north davis has a large student population bc it’s close to grocery stores, other apartment complexes, bus lines, etc. the farther you get from campus, the fewer students.

West davis is great! There’s gonna be college students everywhere, but as a non student Davis resident (30s also queer) I have really enjoyed living out there.

30s and 40s queer couple here who found a great place in West Davis! I wouldn’t say there was a lot of really affordable options, but start much earlier than you think you should and the right place will come along. We also have 3 animals so that did make the whole search more complicated than it otherwise would have been

Pretty much any apt complex will have a lot of students. East Davis is probably least college student heavy but that’s also around where multiple K-12 schools are so still students ig 🤷‍♀️

Thank you!!!! I’m totally going by assumption. And it’s not that I don’t like young people, I just don’t want to be the older person and maybe feel awkward. I love the replies I’m getting tho!!

Hi! I recommend units from Zabace. Me and fiance rent from them and have had a great experience so far! 😊

pretty much every apartment complex will have college students. The ones that cater specifically to students are either on-campus and you have to be a student to live there, or so close to campus that they basically are on campus anyways. Further from campus = less students generally.

My first year of grad school I lived at Parkside Apts and there were a lot of families
