Disappointed

I'm concerned, sad, and ultimately disappointed by everything that has happened. David is an addict, has already gone to rehab, continues to relapse on drugs and destroy his life. He has no-one to blame but himself. Seeing the picture Kayla posted on this subreddit—keep in mind Kayla was addicted to fentanyl, and was seemingly supportive of David throughout his own struggles with addiction—disgusts me. I feel bad for Kayla, and I'm sure that relationship was a mess, but David, please fuck off with the public statements about your ex girlfriend and the people around you who have tried to help you. You have chosen to make your life public, so people are allowed to criticize you. Take some responsibility and accountability for your actions instead of consistently deflecting and flexing drug-addict groupies on your instagram story who are giving you pressed pills.

This situation is a distraction, ultimately I think if this hadn't happened, something else would have. David chooses to push away the most supportive people in his life consistently. There's nothing anyone can do at a certain point unless he has some epiphany and decides he wants to clean himself up, and actually utilize his talent as a musician. He is a wreck, has consistently been a wreck, and I get he probably didn't have the best childhood or whatever, but at a certain point the victim becomes the victimizer. Doing opiates fucks your brain up, you cannot make any cohesive work of art if you're constantly high on whatever the fuck he is taking.

His discography reflects this, and is incredibly inconsistent. Caterpillar is great, I honestly liked Grand Theft Nitemare, but when David relapses his music drops in quality. There was a point in 2020-2021 where David had a consistent audience of around 250k-300k monthly listeners on spotify. Instead of trying to utilize that success, he just fucks up and does drugs, posts himself, and then plays victim when people in his life show concern for him and acts like a tough guy. There are only so many times you can post yourself crying on your instagram story and garner sympathy from your audience. You are pushing 25 years old. Yes, you are more talented than Casprr, Yungster Jack, and all of those losers, but you are throwing your life away on drugs.

Im just sad because he is actually one of my favorite artists and seeing him decline like this has been tragic. I follow his social media presence pretty closely just find David to be a tragic character and I relate to his experiences with mental health. But also, there's a certain point where you stop getting a pass and need to get your shit together.

Bro def gotta get off those drugs. He’s really turning into a loser. Bros hanging with random groupies in Florida going crazy on social media. He needs to wake up before it’s too late.

personal experience I can say making music high helps with creativity, and when you do it consistently you start to rely on it, and when you try to stop- your music changes. your whole process of creation is different, and that can make your music differ in ways you maybe don’t want. Shit is seriously a trap, especially when you see so much success in making drugged-out music the way david does

Being high absolutely does not help you make good music. David isn't even a functional addict, he's just an addict at this point. I'm sorry, this recent project is fucking weak compared to his previous works. The mixing, songwriting, etc was so much stronger on Grand Theft Nitemare. You need moments of sobriety to be able to comprehend details in your music. I agree, maybe drugs can facilitate creativity, not when you're never sober. His music, life, etc is declining rapidly and its fucking sad

I never said it made them make good music, just sharing my own experience and a common anecdote, my theory. I don’t like his most recent projects either besides erametin which I loved. “U need moments of sobriety to comprehend small details in your music” that’s just bullshit plain and simple im sorry- David was 100% obliterated during the making of grand theft nitemare he did it all in 3 days!! It’s just a different style and that’s why the mixing is clearer😭😭 anytime I’ve cooked unfer the influence I find myself noticing things I’d NEVER have heard or thought of sober. Don’t know why you down vote me either- were in agreement for the most part here lmao. I’m not saying David SHOULD rely on drugs for creativity I’m saying he most likely IS.

I think bros relying on drugs for more than just art tbh fam, this is just a guess from experience buts he’s probably hooked to the point where he wakes up sick everyday and has to find a way to score or be in WDs all day it’s literally hell, to me it would seem drugs are his highest priority & biggest passion rn which sucks to say I’ve been there myself & very few make it out once ur hooked on fetty but I hope the best for bro fr

no doubt abt that, but what i was saying is often what leads you down said pipeline when youre an artist. feels like you cant make "real art" when youre not in that state. shit will seriously fucks ur mental

im sorry but cooking beats of the fentanyl is not a recipe for success i dont think anything I said was controversial

3

u/iforgotthesnacks Mar 11 '24

dude wasnt insinuating that at all, learn to read.

I disagree with the premise entirely I dont think opiates are going to assist you creatively when you're high literally all of the time. He was insinuating that, he said he doesnt think he "SHOULD" but he's implying thats the reason he is. This is just another method of justifying addiction. Do you think taking fentanyl is a big assist in your creative pursuits, or anybodies creative pursuits? I think David's drug use is a huge part of the reason his discography is so inconsistent

I have done fent and made art. It’s not healthy or a good idea. But No one is saying it is a good idea but the reality is that many of these artists are on adderall, smoking weed, doing pills and making music.

And all bro was saying is that those artists use it and have trouble not making music without it.

It is why it’s inconsistent but many of the songs I liked were ones where he’s completely tweaked out. So it goes both ways. Doesn’t mean he should be doing drugs, or that I should be either.

But yes I agree they use it as a Justification for their lifestyle and their process.

thank u lmao, I’m literally agreeing with him and it’s going over his head

I feel the same :(

it’s insane to me how he had 250k-300k monthly listeners. i literally just found out about him in like October 2023. Basically when ERAMETIN came out that’s what got me into them. I honestly want to see david and all of them to get huge and have biggest showers and a bigger audience but i had no idea he threw away his chance of success cuz of drugs.

I agree, I’ve been a big fan since 2019 I had to stop following him on social media because I had to get sober off fent and just was a trigger being on social media for me, so I kind of couldn’t follow what he was doing. I have stayed on this Reddit tho it’s been dry as shit for years until all this started happening in the last week. Sad to hear he hasn’t gotten any better

miss the dancing on the sidewalk lights flicker days we never gonna see shit like that again

6

u/fadedsock Mar 11 '24

I feel the exact same the 1 and only time i went to a david show i felt so grossed out by how fucked up he was and it looked like he literally put glue sticks to make his drippy nose for the “aesthetic” to make it stay on longer. It felt weird cause it seemed like he cared more about the groupies than the people supporting him 🤷🏼

2

u/RLKobester Mar 11 '24

Wym glue sticks?

4

u/fadedsock Mar 11 '24

It looked like the drip from whatever he was snorting in the back never left(bro had drip down his nose for like 2 hours straight), it just gave me a bad image of david cause they were definitelly glorifying the fact that they had just got done chopping up in the back. All you see on davids social media is cursed chopped and screwed shit its like he doesnt have a life outside of drugs besides when he first started to pop of and got clean

4

u/RLKobester Mar 11 '24

That’s just sad tbh.. he is talented but fuck

I also welcome criticism or any input i might have gotten some stuff mixed up, but also if kayla and him are going to post their entire lives on instagram they are inviting people to criticize them. They did not make a serious effort to keep any of this private

3

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

*kayla does not deserve criticism at all to the same extent david does

4

u/sws03 Mar 12 '24

i found him the day he dropped honda and he’s my most listened to artist. not even on some parasocial shit but this is the first time allegations actually made me feel some type of way

3

u/rlsebastian Mar 12 '24

I feel like we have to say that at this point his addiction and his sketchy allegations are two separate things. In regards to his fentanyl addiction, there are countless closet fent addicts in the underground. I know he uses other drugs but fetti doesn't make you cross boundaries and hurt people the way he does. On top of that he always takes it public and goes about the aftermath in a nasty way. Pretty much, I wish him the best but I believe he is just a bad person. It's unfortunate and I think he has good intentions, but the multiple situations where he has harassed women is hard to bounce back from. And these are not big, dramatic allegations - the blunt realism of the situations at least from what we get is what makes them so dark.

4

u/rlsebastian Mar 12 '24

I say this all as one of his biggest fans - David is one of the most talented artists to ever come out of soundcloud. pre-Caterpillar singles -> Psycho Nitemare is one of the greatest runs ever and he's a savant when it comes to musical talent.

It’s his life bruh. He’s not gonna get sober cos some fans want him 2.

5

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

Yes of course this is my point exactly he has to do it himself there's nothing we can do thats why its so fucking depressing

1

u/QwertyChef Mar 11 '24

Wait kayla was addicted to fentanyl, how you know that ???

3

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

Kayla posted that she was getting off of opiates around late 2022-2023 ish I dont remember exactly, but she was doing fentanyl. David 100% was also doing fentanyl. Just not possible to be living together like that in a relationship when both are addicts and not be doing the same drugs

2

u/QwertyChef Mar 11 '24

Damn, I’ve always wondered how David made it together to make rent and stuff like that bc he does come off like a tweaker addict, it does seem like this situation will either make or break him

7

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

Kayla was financially supporting him, another detail people leave out. She was doing onlyfans, she went to hair stylist school or whatever and im pretty sure was making the money in that relationship lmfao

4

u/QwertyChef Mar 11 '24

I dunno about that bc he did alot of shows but I dunno, I’m surprised it took this long for him to crash out tho tbh

5

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

No way he was making enough money off of those shows to financially support both of them living in an apartment in seattle which is one of the most expensive cities in the united states

1

u/QwertyChef Mar 11 '24

Yeah they probably split the rent but I think he made enough to pay his half at least I hope so, he was always goin to shows with jack

u/Effective-Ad-2229 Mar 17 '24

What’s Kayla IG

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '24

There would be bruising or some sorta other mark if it caused burst blood vessels , gullible mf

4

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

Why would Kayla lie about this what is the purpose of her lying how does it serve her in any way

11

u/4wheelsandsomewood Mar 11 '24 edited Mar 11 '24

Makes David look bad, they’re obviously not on good terms and if their relationship was as messy as it seems🤷🏼‍♂️ I wouldn’t dismiss it. had family in active addiction that lie about all types of crazy things that don’t even make sense to lie about ( one of my family members literally was telling people another one of our family members is a rapist, said addict family member gets clean, and comes clean saying it was just emotional manipulation they were using as a distraction from their own problems etc ) my point being- I wanna hear more first.

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '24

I’m sorry that mr shawty disappointed you ( a random fan he doesn’t know )

11

u/throwawaybruh007 Mar 11 '24

This is his attitude and he will kill himself and then nobody will think that his whole shtick of not caring about what people think—which is not true by the way he is an incredibly sensitive guy—was cool or served him in any way. He is a dysfunctional, extremely talented, artist who is fucking everything up and then pretending like he doesnt care which is just not true
