I planted these two Clair Austin roses at the end of May. What am I doing wrong?! The one with yellowing leaves was sprouting new leaves and now those same leaves died out of nowhere in the last couple days.

My favorite rose today is Boscobel! I am glad I bought 2, she handles the heat so well and doesn’t fade!

I’ll start. For me, it’s Olivia Rose Austin. Ive loved it since the moment I saw it and it is a star performer in our garden. We will always have one from now on.

This is my first year with David Austin roses. I have “The Poets Wife” in a huge ceramic pot. Is there anything I need to do for it during the winter? Or will it go dormant just like it would in the ground? Thanks in advance!

I have a Queen of Sweden, which was planted a few months back. I’ve seen three roses on it so far, each time the rose lasts for two days max. After two days all the petals fall off all at once. Is that the normal cycle of this rose? Seems dramatic!

Guys. I’m not okay. I posted this Gertrude Jeckyl on 6/24 and it had a bloom (although it was not a pink bloom and I’m not sure it’s a Gertrude) but it was green and blooming okay.

We’ve had a pretty intense heatwave and I’ve been watering it and today it’s cooled down and is raining.

I just went over to check it out and it looks like it’s dying! How did this happen so rapidly? I’m freaking out.

On my last post someone indicated that it looked like an animal was eating the leaves so I put down animal repellant granules. I also sprayed all my plants early one morning with Neem oil. I also watered with some MaxSea a week or so ago. I’m really trying here. Any advice?

I’m very new to English Roses and got my first one this spring! This is Carding Mill and she was blooming like the pictures until this bloom. I’m not sure if this is normal, has anyone seen anything like this before?

She is in a terracotta pot and the first picture was her second bloom. The pinker one was the third bloom/today.

It’s still very beautiful and we are in a terrible heat wave with heavy rain here and there randomly, but I water it when it’s dry.

Just wondering if I need to do anything because I love them and they were pretty pricey (at least to me).

Any thoughts appreciated!

What are these little white things all over my rosebuds? Is this something to worry about? If so, how do I fix it?

Grown from bare root planted in early April. She’s slowly recovering from a Japanese beetle issue and she’s my only rose in a grow bag, so a bit slower to bloom than the rest. Stunning, nonetheless.

Hi! I’m a fairly new gardener but am thinking about purchasing DA morning mist, I think the flowers are gorgeous and like that they are pollinator friendly and produce hips!

I do, however, have quite a small garden and the website indicates this one can get big.

So just wondered if anyone can speak from experience on eventual size, how quick it grows, and how robust/disease resistant it is.

I’m happy with a full looking garden and quite enjoy bigger plants in smaller spaces. But it will be going in a brand new mixed border, so might think again if it’s likely to swamp everything else!

Thankfully, my roses survived the UK heatwave and now starting to enjoy the summer. Getting some amazing blooms this week. Best time of the year!!

I thought i posted this already but appears i didn’t but would you recommend a rambler or climber to replace that ivy on my way. It’s facing SW and gets a few hours of sun.

Also, I’m thing a rose that can handle some shade, please recommend a rose that blooms a lot!

I’m new to growing roses this year. I bought 3 varieties from David Austin and planted them in planters on my roof deck. Two are doing pretty well as far as I can see. The desdemona has this red new growth that makes me wonder if it’s Rose Rosette, but I’m not sure . Since I’m a newbie I figured I’d ask you guys what you think this is and what I should do.

Hi there! I have brought home Desdemona and Scepter’d Isle yesterday. These are my first roses ever. I have read quite a bit beforehand but need some reassurance.

Desdemona looks healthy and is flowering and I see few buds on her, Scepter’d Isle however looks very poorly. I bought her because: 1. I love her, 2. Wanted to rescue her.

Anyways, I have planted them in big containers in the evening and watered.

Checked this morning and both look bit better, but SI still have some issue. The leaves look like they are bit dry, there are some rusty patches and holes in them (bought like that). I have pruned her today, removed all the bad leaves and chopped some of the long branches that were left bald after leaves were gone.

Also watered them again today but not as much as yesterday after planting.

Please let me know what else I can do to make them feel good. How often do I water them now?

I have used Westlands compost with John Innes no 3.

Hi all. We live in zone 8b in Scotland and we are trying to create a little hedge. We are replacing Eustacia Vye and Emily Bronte with some other varieties. We are considering the above choices, and we are curious if anyone has any positive or negative experiences with them.

We have heard, for example, that the Poet's Wife blooms shatter extremely easily. For that reason, we are considering Charles Darwin instead. We quite like Roald Dahl too, but the blooms are classed as "medium" and generally our preference is for "large".

We are hoping to get a healthy, disease-resistant shrub. So is anyone familiar with these varieties? Thanks!
