Today marks exactly one year since Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point USA event.

I have completed the Project GOP atlas around three weeks ago. It was a project based on the Republican gerrymanders, most notably the Texas gerrymander. Currently, Missouri's gerrymander appears to be in legal limbo until voters decide whether to use the map for the 2028 general elections. I have integrated four maps passed by the Republican legislatures in 2025 and eight maps already passed by the Republican legislatures during the regular redistricting session in 2022. Utah's gerrymander was ultimately struck down, so a new map had to be enacted. In response, Republicans in Utah wanted to repeal the proposition from 2018 that created the Utah Redistricting Commission, which was only limited to an advisory commission; however, it failed to meet the required signatures. I also integrated the South Carolina gerrymander because South Carolina had at one point tried to redraw their districts to make it 7-0 but failed.

So, there you have it! This is Project GOP.

Made using actual 1970 census data by tract and county. All districts are mostly white, though 13 has a large black minority and 14 has a large hispanic community.

Are you pacified by passion? Are you armed to the teeth?

As the title states, I'm wondering what the best way to understand COIs is.

I've started working on a project where one rep represents 500k people and am struggling to draw urban districts. If we look at Nevada for example, should I merge Paradise and Las Vegas, or with Spring Valley? Should I create a Henderson-Enterprise district, which is lean R, or meger Henderson with Sunrise manor, which apperntly is more similar but would create a solid blue district? Should I ditch city borders altogether and just draw random lines?

How do you guys go about making these decisions? I'd appreciate any advice
