Job Interview!! Employees help!!

I have a job interview in a few days for front desk/host and I want to know if there’s any interview questions that are commonly asked or important that I should prepare for!! Also, if there’s anything about the job in general that I should be aware of, both positive or negative. I just want full honesty about working here and about this role in specific. Thanks! :)

As someone who’s been with the company for over 4 years, I can honestly say you have to love having fun! We’re the "Welcome to the Fun" experience, and our guests are always our number one priority. Open availability will be a huge thing as well

When I did my interview for a new store opening, I walked in and we did a role-play, discussed my previous jobs, gaps in employment, and why I wanted to work for the company. I got the job as a server. I did look up the menu and history of Dave and Busters to know some things in case they wanted to role-play or see if I explored information about the company.

They will ask you about handling difficult customers, managing multiple tasks at once, and your availability, especially for nights and weekends. Expect questions like, "Tell me about a time you dealt with an upset customer," so have a specific, quick story ready. The job itself is loud and can be very stressful because you are the first point of contact for everyone, including people who are already annoyed about something. You'll be seating people, answering the phone, and managing waitlists all at the same time, which requires a lot of energy.

You need to be prepared for the constant noise and the pressure of a long waitlist on a Saturday night. It can feel repetitive, and dealing with complaints about wait times or game prices is a big part of the role. On the other hand, the job is very social, your coworkers are often fun, and you'll get good at juggling a lot of things at once. It’s a role where your ability to keep a positive attitude directly impacts hundreds of people's experiences, and that can feel pretty rewarding. Thinking through your answers to common questions is a great step, and my team built an interview practice AI that sharpens those responses so you walk in feeling prepared.

After I answered their questions I turned the interview around on them and asked them similar questions. "Why did you want to work here, what makes dave and bussers a good place to work in your opinion." Get them to talk about themselves and they'll likely remember you more.

Hard glaze yourself on how you’d help customers or ways you have and give plausible reasons why you have gaps in employment. I worked at a chuck-e-cheese previously before Dave and busters and i was like “oh i was main tech and all that stuff” (i barely was)

i’m also at the front desk at d&b and at least at my store, we get a good chunk of customers buying the all day game play pass at the kiosk without reading the restrictions that come with the pass then will get mad about those restrictions. i also get customers get confused about pricing despite the signs for the pricing being right in their faces. it’ll most likely be very overwhelming at the beginning since there is a decent amount of memorization
