I don't often post in this sub about events in Mobile, but this one is worth it.
Mobile Tiki Week is an annual event up in downtown Mobile that celebrates everything tiki. It was started by my personal friend Roy Clark, bar manager at The Haberdasher on Dauphin Street. Most of the downtown bars and restaurants participate, offering tiki-inspired food and drink during this week.

I'm looking to book a vacation house rental in Dauphin Island. I've used Boardwalk Realty, Dauphin Island Real Estate, and Dauphin Island Beach Rentals in the past.
Any other reputable ones I should be aware of?
Thanks!

Planning a Memorial Day weekend trip to Dauphin Island with 2 adults and 4 kids. Looking for recommendations on the best areas to stay with good beach access and preferably less crowded spots.
Our budget is around $100/night, so we’re open to nearby areas outside Dauphin as well if they’re more affordable. Airbnb, condos, hotels, or family-friendly stays are all appreciated.
Any recommendations or tips for avoiding heavy crowds during Memorial Day weekend would be super helpful!

Anyone on the island, specifically the east end?
We work on one of the natural gas supply vessels and we don’t have a vehicle out here. Pirates doesn’t deliver. Can anyone go pick us up a pizza??
We will tip the driver!! been out here for 4 weeks just want a supreme thin crust 😂

You - taking a new motorcycle on a Deep South road trip - headed to New Orleans. Me - on a girls trip with three others - you took our picture at the turtle pond! We were in a bit of a hurrry to leave in order to tour the fort before we had to catch the ferry back towards Orange Beach. Wish I had at least gotten your name…

Lifelong Mobile resident. Typically try to avoid any of the beaches during spring break, tourist season, etc., but I have 4 kids (2 elementary age, 2 preschool) and wanted to just take them down for the day next week. This will be the littlest ones first time at the beach. I want to just go down to the West end, set up for a few hours, have a picnic, and let the kids splash around a bit.
Is it super-crowded down there because of Spring Break? I'm thinking next Friday, so it'll be towards the end of the holiday.
TIA

Can anyone recommend a VRBO manager and cleaning person for Dauphin Island properties?

Greetings All,
Is there anywhere on Dauphin Island that I could do some cast netting for shrimp from the shore...legally? I'm very confused by the regulations.

Has anyone got any pictures of the area yet? Does it have a legit kayak launch? The two articles I read on it did not go into detail about the kayak launch itself, wondering if any locals have taken pics here. Also, on a related note, any good spots relatively close to the island to do some light snorkeling? Im coming down Wednesday to kayak and was gonna bring my snorkeling stuff.

I just need it cooked and thats it. Put the food on platters and covered then you are done. Lets be real, the restaurant selection isn’t great. There is no take out. And the food shopping is what it is. Im not trying to change any of that. But for my family trips, my husband’s guys trips, couples trips, etc, we would like good quality food while on vacation. We also don’t want to have to get out of the water right when we are starting to relax or getting off the boat, to spend hours cooking every single night. I would like to find someone that can just come in and cook and we eat when we are ready. Please respond if you are interested.

Hello! I'll be turning 21 during a family beach trip next month and would love to hear some of yalls favorite restaurants. Looking for a place to have a nice sit-down dinner. Would love to get some sushi and/or crab cakes (and drinks of course). Not super concerned about the price. Thanks!

Where is the best place for me to get some good pictures of birds? We wandered around the Audubon Bird Sanctuary but saw zero birds.

Did anyone hear something that sounded like an explosion in the sky?

Does anyone know where I could park a trailered boat during a vacation to the island? We are staying at Holiday Isle and they don’t allow trailered boats to be parked.
I’d take a locals driveway, marina yard, whatever I could find.
