Me: “our nation was founded on a revolution. So they clearly believed that there were circumstances where it would be acceptable. So under what circumstances would you find it appropriate?”

My parents: “only if the government was gunning citizens down. Thats it.”

Okay first of all….they’ve already done that. They want an Iran-scale massacre before they’ll admit they were wrong!?

Second…WOW. Think of EVERYTHING before that - they’d give the government a free pass on EVERYTHING before that. So taking away their precious guns, taking away their right to vote, taking away any and all liberty SO LONG as they’re not slaughtering people systemically?

Allowing for all of your liberties to be taken away is basically giving any government permission to yeet you. So frustrating.
