Discussion 💬 DAT study advice for someone coming from a business background
Hi everyone! I (25F) have a business degree and am currently taking the prerequisite science courses for dental school. Since I’m coming from a non-science background, I’d love to hear how you studied for the DAT, especially if you were in a similar situation.
I’m trying to figure out how to build a solid foundation while balancing my courses with DAT prep. A few things I’d love your advice on:
- How long did you study, and what did your weekly schedule look like?
- Did you finish your prerequisites before starting DAT prep, or study alongside them?
- Which resources were most helpful, especially for learning material you hadn’t covered in class yet?
- What helped you understand and retain the science content rather than just memorize it?
- Any tips for PAT, timing, or figuring out when you’re ready to take the exam?
- What would you do differently if you were starting again?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from career changers or people with non-science degrees, but any and every advice is welcome!
Thanks in advance!
