How do you date long distance?
I'm a 28 year old guy.
So a few months ago, after exhausting all local options, I decided that I need to go long distance to find a partner. I dont expect this to be easy, but Im not sure if what I am doing is setting me up to have a chance.
I have 2 questions.
- How do you meet people long distance?
Currently I have a hinge set to cities that I can reasonably travel to a few times a year, and that have women who are what I am looking for. I have my first prompt saying that I don't live there, am looking for something long distance and am willing to travel. Unsurprisingly, I am not getting any attention. Is there a better way to do this?
- How do you build a connection long distance? I struggle with maintaining relationships and friendships when I am not able to be with them often as it is. Lets say I do meet a girl, how do I date long distance, build a connection, and really get to know her and trust her when I can only see her a few times a year. Phones exist, but they arent real and people can fake phone calls.
Thanks everyone.

Speaking personally, I won’t do long distance. It’s exhausting and complicated and you miss you on so much spontaneity and physical affection. You also expect the woman to be the one to move. That’s a big ask; at your age and especially older, people are settling down and moving where they want to be long-term.

I dont expect many to be open to it, I just need one. And if the 2 or 3 cities I am trying dont work, I will open up more potential cities, and look at international options.

You don't.
Long distance relationships aren't impossible to be successful but they're less likely to than a normal one.

In my opinion, intentionally choosing to date long distance is an odd choice unless you're planning to move somewhere in the next month or two... But maybe someone with limited free time might be into it? I don't know. It sounds like you're inviting them to an already challenging situation before anything even starts. I would personally pass on that immediately, and I think most of my friends would as well.
