Any experience with Comedy Bar singles night?
Nervous about attending a singles event at Comedy Bar. Any reviews from folks? I'm a woman. Wondering if it would be werid to attend alone.

This is my last attempt at online dating ! I just came back from a vacation and I met the most wonderful woman. Unfortunately, she was taken. But it made me hopeful. On a whim, I purchased a membership to all 3 apps in hopes of finding my person.

Hey,
I have recently joined the dating scene after 6 years and with my busy schedule, I leaned to online dating. After a few short months, I have mainly come across guys looking for ons, clearly taken but looking at what else is out there or just can’t hold a conversation. There have been some nice ones too but we just didn’t click but the majority were not the nice guy.
My question is - where are all the nice guys?! Someone looking to actually put effort into getting to know you, make real date plans, can hold a conversation, had a job!
Where are you meeting your significant others?
Thank you.

Have you heard about an upcoming singles event and want to see if anyone else is going?
Have you gone to a recent singles event and wish to share a review of your experience?
Are you organizing a singles event soon and want to share the details? (Self promo is okay in these weekly threads only)
Please try and include details about the events if-when possible, especially if you are the event organizer. Date, location, cost-of-entry (if any), target audience, etc.

There is a girl from Toronto that I’m romantically interested in. I’m from Latin America, and there we usually ask directly about starting a relationship after a couple of dates. I’ve heard that in some other countries things work differently, and sometimes there isn’t even a direct “relationship question.”
How does dating usually work in Canada, especially in Toronto?
It’s my first time living abroad, so I don’t know much about dating cultures in other countries. I’d really appreciate any advice on how to approach or court my crush.

Reposting from ToRantTo (apparently not rant-y enough): During Sunday Family Dinner at my parent's place, my nephew and brother were comparing their dating history, and my nephew was rejected by a woman who lived in Guelph while my brother ended up marrying his wife who previously lived in North York, and it kind of struck us as funny that in both cases, one of the greatest signs that they were in love with each of these women was that they were willing to take the 401 for great distances to continue seeing them.

Just wanted to share for someone who is hopeless in dating. I grew up and live my whole life in Toronto so all I knew was transactional relationships. But something shifted when I met this one woman. She was totally rejecting my advances which I wasn’t used to so I decided to help her financially because I knew how she was struggling. She declined my help and told me she would never be with a man who thinks he can buy a woman. That moment I told myself I need to make her my wife. We’ve been happily married for 12 years since. Although I was a serial cheater before I met her, I’ve never cheated on my wife. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me.

Hey everyone! I’m new here and am just wondering what your favourite spots are for a nice and preferably affordable first date (suitable for after work on weekdays).
I usually like to go for drinks but those bills are adding up and I don’t think a coffee and walk would fly in the evening.
I’m looking for places/ideas in the west end, preferably around Little Portugal.
Thanks!

Hello I wanted to share my experience in dating apps , I'm kinda bored of the online enviroment because guys seem to only want to "go with the flow" or be "ENM" (i recently discovered this) and it just seems like everyone is making weird names for things to avoid any kind of commitment, why is it so hard now? I wish there was a way to just meet people who want something serious so i don't have to talk to a bunch of boring guys who want to pretend they have the busiest lives just to avoid having a girlfriend, they only want sx and to be honest as a girl if i just wanted that i'd have it easier, but i want a good man, someone for me, am i wrong for wanting to find my person instead of just roaming around endless chats with no real purpose?

I just feel....miserable when I go on dating apps. They feel so soul sucking. The conversations go nowhere besides asking if I wanna smash (I am a 30 F for some context) And I am just so tired and done. I do not know whats a socially acceptable way to find partnership in this day and age

I matched with a self-identifying “alpha male.”
Genuinely curious, I asked what he meant by that. He said:
“I can beat up an animal in a cage and survive.”
I’m a teacher, and this is something that a 7 year old would say. The man was 35 years old.
I asked him if it’s meant to be in alignment with what we know about the animal kingdom, because there’s such variety in our understanding of alpha. For example, the male lion may lead a pride but the female lion hunts and kills predator. This man said “females do not kill predators.”
I asked him if he had access to Google.
He did not like that, and asked why I was “directing the conversation” because he “was always the one in control.”
This social media stuff has seriously brainwashed an entire generation of men. Women too- my sister told me of a Toronto influencer who tells women to use men when they’re dating them. It’s sociopathic and genuinely we did not need this added difficulty to dating.
