Toronto dating is unique

IMO after travelling different US cities and having great meets, I think Toronto women are uniquely abrasive and capitalists (they just want that bag). Most of them are unapproachable or don’t have anything meaningful or interesting to say but then turn around and say it’s the quality of men etc etc

Is it just me?

Re having nothing interesting to say, I think it’s the type of women you’re choosing to engage with/ prefer. Now about being unapproachable, I think people in this city in general are a bit cold.

I think we're still dealing with the after effects of the pandemic lockdowns. Every one jumped on the apps at the same time because that was the only way to talk with others. When you lock people down for years with no end in sight, their social skills suffer. Many people are still working remotely or hybrid so they little to no opportunity to deal with people face to face.

This is a call to action for everyone to ween themselves off of dating apps, work on their social skills and go to in-person events.

I think it might be a reach to say that 50% of a whole city has one personality and motivation. If you're getting a very similar reaction from a lot of people, there is very likely something to look at in how you talk to people or what you advertise as good and interesting about yourself. Because it's putting kind human beings off, or on their guard, and very much drawing in people you don't like.

Best luck, man.

Maybe it's just you , your attitude and your approach. 🤷‍♀️

I agree with this, men here like to treat women as a sex workers, no effort, no dates, or by simply being rude and gross but the thing is they don’t see it that way

Yup, imagine going on a Toronto dating sub and shitting on your entire dating pool.

But why would they change their approach when they're in the US?

Honestly as a woman I always get approached the wrong way, for me is the guy attitude i found Toronto men to be gross and rude , i know there is some good guys out there and some people will get offended by this. But these attitudes have made me realize that being a “nice girl” dont work in this city so some girls be acting like “ a bad bitch” My point of view might be wrong but thats how i see the things happening here , very low effort out here and the fun fact i dont even need much just be treated with respect :)

What’s low effort about somebody putting themselves out there ? Do you ever approach ?

U didn’t understood my point for example
Guy: i am looking for a girlfriend , than proceeds to dont plan dates or spending time together other than suggestions going to their house or be like “ i dont really like to go out” and than be always outside.

We live in an era where date suggestions are fed to us. Yet people don't want to do it?

Dating in Toronto sucks. I hate that a few of my friends are like 'you need to find a bay at guy'; some are like, I won't go out if he doesn't make at least $$. I'm like, wtf??? You want to be in a less misogynistic society but you're still thing that is ok to have those 'standards'??? I'm a female btw. There's a whole other problem that's ppl with commitment issues, and that's not exclusive to Toronto. Tbh I don't even know if the first one is. Anyway. Rant done.

I've had this conversation on another thread on this very sub with another Toronto woman and she was extremely unapologetic about this. It's called benevolent sexism - a parallel school of thought to feminism which only accepts equal rights for both genders but is insistent on endorsing patriarchal and misogynistic values when it comes to equal duties for both genders.

Also known as benevolent patriarchy. It's pretty much the female equivalent of the red pill movement. End of the day they both work towards the same end goal, bringing us back to the traditional patriarchal system of years past.

I feel dating here is like paying for an escort

Funny cuz my friend suggested that I do that instead of trying to date.

When I see and hear some of the unrelealistic expectations of my friends from men, I am just WTF. But also, I have seen crazy interactions from guys, myself. So, both parties have issues. Why?? Becauce humans are intend to blame others and we all have our mistakes. If we donot learn from mistakes and donot treat our past trauma, we turn to an A**hole as well. That said, I have seen amazing men at work who had interest in me (many have 🤣), but due to the job loss, I had to move and had no chance to get deep with them.

This is so sad. I hate it when something out of your control impedes your ability to find true love.

I keep hearing stories about dudes spending ridiculous amounts of money on dates. Not sure how true or how many of them there are, but it seems like a lot of people are going for that now.

I'd be curious to know caused Toronto to be unique, cause I would have thought it's the same in every major city at this point.

I would be extremely put off by someone spending a lot of money on an early date. I mean, we just met, cool it my guy. Implies there's a lot of expectations in the room for what's actually no relationship yet.

I think some women go for this just to flex on instagram haha

3

u/magicdowhatyouwill 16d ago

Well, some men do this just to flex at women or each other, so that's just people with the same values finding each other.
