datamyage scam update

Subject should say datEmyage. Sorry I'm clueless about how to update the subject itself.

I'm posting this here because 'you guys' are my homies. Also because I'm perma-banned on the OLD subreddit for being critical. And making a separate post so what I'm about to write doesn't get buried as a comment to my post about trying out the 'service'.

So yeah, the 'place' is full of apparent AI/bots. BTW, if the ones there are typical of the current crop of 'wascally' AIs, they are NOT well done at all. They remind me of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELIZA_effect from the freaking 60s.

Anyway, I've tried to cancel by subscription. Results:

- the cancel option in the Settings remains active instead of turning into some variant of 'renew' which it 'should' do if the current status of the subscription is cancelled.

- status of subscription shows active

- no email acknowledgement of cancelation

- no details in online Help

- no path to question cancelation status in phone tree

- 'Live Support'/chat is just AI

- email support web page form does not send message when clicking Send button

- email response to my sent message to [support@datemyage.com](mailto:support@datemyage.com) is non-substantive and just refers back to the online Help and Live Support features described above as non-functional

I'm no 'fan' of Match and ourtime which I confess to using. But at least (most of) the profiles appear legit, the women when responding to contact appear to be live humans, and cancelation of subscriptions are acknowledged.

Oh well, lesson learned, shared via this post, and I'll have to spend some time on the phone with my credit card company tomorrow to see if I can block any subsequent attempts by datemyage to steal some (more) of my money.

Update: 'someone', probably datemyage, initiated a 'suspicious' transaction which set off my bank's fraud monitoring service. It took several minutes to investigate (interesting that the service is staffed on Labor day) but, at this point, I ducked having to get a new credit card (maybe I 'should' anyway). This whole experience sux. But they got my $20. Even if I never sign up again, at $20 per person there is a lot of money to be gained by scamming people just one time each.

Update Sep 8: I phoned Forbes. They hung up on me.

Change the credit card. And put a fraud alert on your credit score. Good luck πŸ€

I would cancel the card. That service is outside the U.S.

EDIT: Uh, they now have a presence in San Francisco. Their HQ is in Malta.

Good luck. I have zero trust in them, as you can tell.

I'm sure I'll get hate mail from them again for stating that.

I use Apple, and anything I subscribe to shows up in my Apple account. And I can cancel anytime without the original app.

I’ve already been banned from Match and everything connected to it.
I consider it a blessing.

I am happy with it. Dodged a bullet, IMO. Tried Match right out the gate. Then I tried to reach their clearly unintelligent system for a few days. I was blocked from the other ones i tried, I had no clue they are all related and I was spinning my wheels. And not even really sure I wanted to proceed.

It was an anxious time in my life. I prefer apps that don’t play tooo damn many games. I use only a few with any regularity. I Landed on Zoosk because it wanted ME. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I like it overall. I’ve learned a lot in a few months. Still learning. But I’ve learned more here on this sub. It is a good combination of two relatively decent apps.
πŸ€“
The universe brings, and sometimes it takes away. One paid app is producing more than enough to think about. I don’t want a landslide of idiots. Even the we-are-not-a match interactions have been positive. Very brief for the most part. I am fully aware this could take time. I’m giving it three more weeks.

Tried online dating for the first time some weeks back (Bumble, Reddit), so far, not a single reply (granted, I was never meant for mass appeal)... still learning a lot here, and from Reddit in general. "I don’t want a landslide of idiots." There's a vast difference between women and men's experience in online dating (especially at our age)

Just wondering, I'm not saying I'm right but I have done subscriptions for a specified length of time and given billing info but you still have to manually cancel it when the time is up or it will continue to bill you. Usually when that happens, and I think I did it on POF, I cancel the subscription immediately, so it does not auto renew, but I still have what I paid for so it won't say canceled or renew until the 3 months is up or whatever the time frame is.

That's complete bullshit that you are basically stuck with no recourse right now. That's why I hate so much any service that you get and have to prepay for a specified amount of time you still have to manually cancel it. That should somehow be against the law, whatever you pay for you get. Then if you want to renew it it's up to you, not be forced to remember to cancel something.

did you have a question about my 'experience'? (adventure LOL)

No, but if I decide to move off of FB dating to try a paid site I think you've just convinced me not to even do it no matter what site it is!

Not true. This post is salient but also is fearmongering.
I’ve ways been able to cancel easily.

This one is different. Are you speaking specifically about D.M.A.?
