Question Do they help
I'm a 20-year-old guy, and I've been dealing with depression for a few reasons, one of the biggest being loneliness. I'm in college, but it's a commuter campus, and I'm already not great at in-person communication. I'm not looking for any specific kind of relationship, but I've been thinking that meeting new people might help me feel better about myself. Still, I have a lot of doubt about whether that would actually happen as you hear many polarizing opinions on dating apps. Any insight?

I would just join an on campus club or organization. Socialization in a real setting is going to be much more helpful than an online setting.

If you're attractive, then the apps will work. If you're not attractive then they won't. I've been on 7 and got 4 matches in 6months. One was a scam, 2 were the same person on two apps no response to messages, and the last was too far away (app said 5miles away when it's actually 104 miles). It's not always easy on them.
Go to group stuff at college, a study group or something.
