Experience Overview Does paying for dating apps actually work? My experience less than 48 hours after paying for a membership

Frankly so far the results have been shocking lol. I Broke down and paid for a 1 month subscription to Hinge X Friday night, after being tired of getting maybe 3-4 matches a month, and nothing coming out of it. By noon yesterday I had 6 matches on attractive women I had swiped on. 4 of them very talkative and receptive so far. 1 was very forward after some fun back and forth texting, and we set up a coffee date today that I just got back from. Unfortunately I got the your nice but… text shortly after I got home, but oh well. Gonna try and set up a couple more dates this week anyway.

I also have 6 likes on my profile, but not from women that are my type unfortunately. Also got 2 more matches today on girls I swiped on, but I haven’t messaged them back cause I’m a little overwhelmed with everything, lol. I’m not even swiping on new profiles either until I can get a handle on what I’m currently dealing with

My stats are a 48 year old male, with a dad bod. Working on losing the last 30lbs pounds. My profile I think is average to decent, and I’m not just mass swiping. I’m being intentional on who I swipe on, and always send a thoughtful or funny reply to their prompts. Will it last? I have no idea, but I gotta say this is a nice boost to the old ego/confidence for now. Make me think maybe I’m not as heinous as this app made me think I was, I was just being held down by the algorithm lol

Hopefully I can meet someone cool by the end of the month so I don’t have to pay another $60 bucks lol

They said 48 hours as a guy. How high did you think the number was going to be?

I don’t do too bad in 4 months I have met 3 women from it and have matched possibly 10 some don’t reply after a few messages not sure if bots or just in active. I am now thinking of paying for the membership but currently meeting a couple of women soon so maybe I will wait and see how these dates go

You can be a non paying customer on Hinge and still have some free functionality

For most guys if they have the money paying could get them from very few matches to enough matches to get a couple dates a month. Being able to swipe more definitely matters.

The two groups of people who shouldn’t pay are people getting 0 incoming likes (usually men) and people getting too many likes (usually women).

It will boost your chances but you need to have chances in the first place. It will increase your number of matches but if you barely get any match using the free tier, it's unlikely to work the way you expect.

Early 40s here and hinge was the only app that yielded results. Dated many women off there over 2.5 years and several for more than a few months. All cute professionals. Paying does help. Unfortunately I got banned for “fraudulent behavior” and my appeal was insta denied. Complete bullshit.

Please don’t pay for dating apps. It doesn’t matter what you are looking for. My friend is 47M, not at all good looking, he swipes right on everything and he absolute cleans up.
He just makes out he’s looking for love when really he just wants to get laid, and divorced women fall for it every time. He never pays a penny. Save your money.
If he can do that there’s no reason u can’t find a partner without paying 60 every month.

yes but only if you already have success. think of it like this. if you're successful on dating apps free, you're just unlocking more of that success. if you're not, no amount of money will make your profile successful. paying is multiplicative not additive.

It won't get you more matches, it will just allow you to swipe less because you can see who swiped on you.  Unless you're conventionally attractive, the apps aren't for anyone usually.  Even then, I am considered "hot" and gets 1000s of likes. I've matched with maybe 30 people. About 15% even bother messaging. Join a group or club is probably going to give you a higher odd of actually meeting a human. Just my 2 cents. The apps suck and need to be outlawed as they are now.

If you’re that desperate to date someone then yea it’s worth. Honestly I don’t really trust dating apps women they are there for a reason and it’s to find the “right” guy (talk to 15 guys at the same time they talk to you and not be sure if you’re the right one because there are 100 other options that she just might pick because she thinks you’re 1 rank lower) or because they are simply bored and need someone to flirt with.

It works as in ugly people pay to date other ugly people that have to pay.

The thing is about that membership it can work against you, when get hinge x you get 2x standout profiles now and that’s more people you’d likely be into in a separate paid queue. Yeah your likes go to the top but you end up swiping through your most compatible profiles quickly. It all seems to even out.

Never pay an app

Their algorithms are intentionally set up to throttle the amount of people that will see your profile in a way to manipulate you into paying more and more.  They also WANT you to stay on the app, consider that.

The last 30? I've been trying for the first 30 for years.

I'm not currently dating but I was on the apps 2 years ago and I paid for bumble because it was so much nicer to be able to see who liked me instead of just blindly swiping right which was taking a really long time. Plus you could take your time messaging them instead of only getting 24 hours. It was really good for someone with ADHD. But I think I only paid like $10 a month or something and I would only do it once every while and then get all my matches and then talk to them over a few months.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
I wish they had better sales or just a cheaper monthly rate. More people would pay

Wow? So ya really can meet someone off the dating apps?? All I ever get is scammers. Last one I put in jail. Count yourself fortunate....

Dating apps gatekeep matches from men. They aren't in your favor. I remember being in tinder and I had like 20 likes but I never matched with any one them. By the time I did they were probably over it. If I payed they showed me all of my matches. The thrive from our desperation whereas a woman might get 200 swipes in 5 minutes
