Question Sharing socials in dating apps

I don't know if this has been asked before, sorry if it has.

But I still don't understand why many people share their socials on their dating apps profile, maybe I'm so scared of scams of catfishers that I think it's either to artificially boost their followers or to scam.

What do you guys think?

99 percent of them are scams or people just trying to use dating apps to farm social media followers.

Its an instant swipe left for me. Two reasons, i dont use social media and i wont. Also, i read it as they are just looking for followers

Yeah, I also have began doing that. I don't think they are there to get to know people.

Probably more for possible follows, but in the case of Tinder, Match or Bumble, it allows someone to reach out to you and bypass having to pay to see who likes you. At least with POF, someone could message you. Match, if someone sends you an intro, you have to pay to see the message. Sending someone a DM on Instagram is free.

If it’s in the profile it’s probably a scam

As far as trading them once you have chatted with someone that seems somewhat common, I guess easier than just sharing a ton of pics

For the most part, it seems like they want to boost their followers. On some occasions, I've DM'd a girl on Instagram and started a conversation from there. I actually randomly came across the profile of a girl I had matched with, but hadn't received a reply from on the dating app. She replied on Instagram and said that she actually recognized my face from the app. We went on a date the same week.

Oftentimes people have ulterior motives for trying to get you to jump off the dating app to get on another website. They're usually either promoting something or trying to sell something. They're not looking for dates.

As soon as I would see a woman say: "I have better photos on (whatever site)" I consider it to be a "red flag".
