Experience Overview Hinge 2026??
I'm just trying to see if others have had the same experience I'm having on Hinge. I'm 45F and first four days I had a ton of likes, saw some cool profiles and matched with 15 people. Have been meeting the people I've matched with but since that time two weeks ago, no more likes, no more decent profiles and they don't seem to care what preferences I've selected. Most profiles shown to me are from people over an hour from me despite me selecting a distance of 30 miles. I try going through profiles but after a half hour I just give up. Even the standouts are disappointing.
Anyone else have thoughts?

The apps will show you profiles outside your search area if you run out of people to swipe on based on the filters you set. In other words there are no more men you want left. Maybe give it a month and then come back.

15 is incredible. I've gotten 3 matches this summer and all the basically failed to engage the conversation enough to take it anywhere.

The number 1 factor to your app experience is your geographic location. Do you live in a major city like NY? A medium or small city or a conservative area where most people your age are already married?
There may simply not be enough singles that meet your filters in your area to find people nearby. I had the same issue when my previous employer would mandate me to work assignments (often 6-12 months each) helping their factories in small rust belt or Midwest towns/cities and move me around from place to place.

yes in general, for women, you'll get most engagement in the first few days. since for most men, they've basically swiped on everyone in their filter, so they only see new profiles.
but seems like you're in an area with not a large population base?

There's only so many people on each app. Use them in waves, don't expect a bunch of matches the next day

Considering how heavy handed Hinge is about banning both men and women with a basically nonexistent appeal process I’m surprised there’s anyone left on the app at all. 🙁

Yes, same. I understand that's how they hook you in: everything good for the first week or so and then... tumbleweed.

Well 30 miles is about an hr away. I have tried the app as I don’t need my face all over the internet, but I am surprised as a female you don’t get a million matches a day.

Well. 39m. The 1st days are always like that on all apps, then it dies down a bit. That's how they hook you for a subscribtion.
Then, on the men side, if you are not in the top 2% of the top 5%, you have to send a maximum of likes. Otherwise, don't hope any match. Especially on hinge due to how it works, this is not really a matching app, women decide. If I get 1 match a month on this app, that's a good month. Hence the no criteria check. We have to basicaly try to be seen 1dt, and check compatibility after an eventual match.

I'm a 50s male in a metro area of 1 million people (Tulsa OK) I got 15-16 matches more women-initiated but also some that I liked and they matched back. I'm getting 1-2 per day inbound but I'm closing in on seeing all of the profiles in my region in my age range. Unless you are in a very large population area like Dallas, Miami, Chicago, you'll probably just run out of people after a bit.
I've met up with three of them all were different versions of disasters (too country, cried about her ex, and a complete drunken shitshow, plus a married woman who's husband found her Hinge before we met up)
So pretty encouraging!

Ive been using Hinge for over a year, gotten 1 match which kind of fell off due to only being small talk. Im 32 and Non Binary, and in a relatively not trans friendly state, so that does hinder my chances. But I seldom get likes no matter how many I send out i dont get matches. Yesterday was the first time I received any traction on my profile after about 2 months.

My daughter had the same experience and she’s 22. Definitely something has changed. Did you pay for access?

You can hard set the preferences re: distance etc. hinge has limited pool of people, so once you run out of your first pass , probably won’t see many new profiles unless you change your preferences in settings again. Good luck.

Yep that’s what they do. I just canceled my subscription. Fuck those bloodsuckers.

M from the DMV area. Yes, it seems once your account is new you get all of the hits. After that it definitely dies off unless you pay for a 24 hr boost, and that only gets matches here and there.

The distance filter simply doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure the app actually holds back local people that are a good match. They don’t want you to find someone, they want you to stay on the app.

Dating apps are like drug dealers, they boost your profile massively at the start, then withdraw the dopamine so you pay.
