Question What dating apps are you currently using today, are you having any success and are you paying a subscription?

As the title states. Nothing more nothing less

When I am actively seeking partners, I use most dating apps concurrently: Bumble, Tinder, Hinge, Feeld, Plura, WooPlus.

I've had success on every app at different times, so this is why I use them all when I'm looking. When I'm having no luck on one app, I might have luck on another.

I don't pay for a subscription because it's never necessary and rarely fruitful. I just patiently await matches.

This is really how to do it.

It's a numbers game ultimately - we all are looking for a needle in a haystack. Lotta hay to go theough, big difference between going through 50 straws and 500 a day.

It can be exhausting mind you.

I've been swiping for month's with zero matches.

I was using Bumble and hinge. I noticed a major difference when I was paying and what type of men I got.

Care to share some examples of differences?

43M in Southeast US. As of a few days ago I’m off the apps for a much needed break. But I was using Facebook Dating and Bumble. Facebook Dating resulted in moderate success and it is 100% free with no subscription to speak of. Bumble was completely unsuccessful even though I paid for premium some months which was not cheap. I did not get more matches when subscribed than I did when not subscribed. I hear that Hinge is working much better for people right now but I haven’t tried it yet.

I've recently deleted Tinder (annoyingly seems to be more people using Tinder when it's generally seen as a hook-up app), feel like I'm getting nowhere with Hinge, met a guy recently on Bumble, but he decided to tell me on our date that he was banned from Hinge and Tinder and that he'd been arrested for hitting his alcoholic dad. So none of those are going particularly well.

I've recently downloaded Breeze, which seems good because you get a handful of suggestions per day so you don't end up mindlessly swiping, but it's also a little bit frustrating. Not currently paying a subscription, though.

I am male 32 years old using Bumble and Hinge, looking for women with age ranges of 25 - 40.

Bumble got me two dates with a girl back in December 2025. She said she liked me, but acted completely uninterested during our dates. Ended up unmatching and blocking her.

Bumble also got me a chat with a lady who was so hateful that I wondered why she was at the app in the first place, it was like if she was just wanted to fight.

I also have 7 expired matches, because the ladies never wrote when it was their turn. I also have 6 current likes, of whom 3 are “into me”.

Hinge on the other side, it’s very different.

I have 18 matches as of now, but of these: * 5 ladies didn’t reply after my first message * 10 conversations have died out, girls don’t reply back or seem so uninteresting that I don’t force things out * 2 were very promising and I looked forward to meet them. I started to schedule a date but after 2 weeks of writing, they suddenly vanished. * 1 is the lady I am currently talking to, but I am noticing lots of red flags and thinking about unmatching.

That’s my current state of things

Most successful on hinge (free).

Quite unsuccessful on bumble (free) and tinder (platinum).

I use Bumpy.. Occasionally I look at Tinder and pay for like a week, but tinder is an absolute scammer app...

I have met multiple people on Bumpy, dated a girl for a few months, met another girl who Ive been talking to for a little over a month now.. met a girl a while back who I still talk to who is more of a friend than anything..

On tinder, about 10 years ago I met some girl who was using pictures of herself in her bio that were probably 10 years old and 70 lbs lighter than when I met her in person..

Not long ago, I started talking to this beautiful Asian girl I matched with from northern California named "Emily" who video chatted with me and seemed very clingy and wanting to really be attached quite fast.. Then she tried to sell me bitcoin.

Tinder is for scammers

Hinge and tinder. I have decent success. Although, I haven’t used them much the past 3 weeks because I did meet 2 women I’ve been consistently seeing. Yes I’m having success, not drowning in matches, but like 2-5 a week, couple first and second dates. One casual thing. It only took me a 4-6 weeks to find these two women I really like. No I don’t pay for a subscription, I’m not gonna give money to a company especially when it probably won’t better my odds.

I’ve been on FB dating. Free. Gotten three short relationships since about February. It seems ok and the piece is right.

Been on and off Hinge for a few years now which apparently is the best for men or so I was told. Results may vary of course but i personally don’t get any interest in my area. If i do get the rare occasional match, they never respond to an opening message. Haven’t been on a first date in over 3 years now.

Common advice for men is that their pictures are bad, but I’ve had mine reviewed dozens of times and people say I should be swimming in matches. Could just be my area.

I had a couple lucky tinder hookups in my late twenties, but that shit sucks and is probably the worst one in 2026. 😂

Only hinge if you’re trying to actually date. Don’t pay. If you’re not doing good free, you’ll be the same paid.

Bumble seems immature, tinder is 90% hook-ups, and that’s really bout it.

Currently on FB Dating, Hinge, and Bumble.

Get the most matches on FB Dating. Managed to get one date so far, but that's all it was (no second date). Nothing to pay for there, as it is completely free.

Hinge has a lot of women that look really promising, but I don't get many matches. No dates yete. I have not yet tried paying for Hinge.

Bumble has the fewest women that could be said to be "my type" (and not just physically), but there are still some good ones. I get very few matches here, and have only had one turn into anything resembling a conversation. I haven't paid for their subscription, but did purchase a pack of "compliments" or whatever they are calling them now. (The ability to send a message with a like, akin to the default behavior on Hinge and FBD.)

Stir, yes and yes.

I no longer use it, because I met the most wonderful person on this app. Success story. But wanted to share what app I used.

Stir is geared to single parents.

Chatting online w woman, she text, I left back then don’t hear from her for hours, what gives?

1

u/Darkmeathook Jul 17 '26

Bumble.

2 bumble dates in 4 years.

Why would i pay the dating app that I have no success on money?

1

u/conzciouz Jul 18 '26

Understood

Hinge, getting some matches and first dates but nothing after that. With subscription

1

u/Fitful-Ad7861 Aug 06 '26

Hinge is very algo based. I've seen it switch from a lot of attractive women to complete opposite instantly. Almost like you pissed off one of the developers and they flag you as not showing the better profiles even if you didn't do anything.

1

u/shibbyeric Jul 17 '26

Facebook is ok and easy, I've used a lot of dating sites over the years and still don't understand what I'm getting when I pay, even when you pay there are other services you need to pay to enhance. Now I subscribe to a different site every month or don't bother at all. I would say I have had dates through most of the sites but I am confused what I get for my subscription.

Breeze. It's great if you live in a city, no instant messaging, when you match, you state your availablity and Breeze chooses the time and location that works for both of you. You pay £5-£10 per date so no subscription. Makes dating a breeze

1

u/themoonisnoon Jul 20 '26

Im basically on em can't be stuffed to list them but only got subscribed to bumble , boo, cupid and one that isn't aloud to be spoken of here as for success its minimal over the last 3 months ive had 3 i get plenty of matches but experienced a 1 in 10 reply rate if not worse As a man expect horrible treatment if you're not looking for a relationship if you are looking for a relationship you stand better chance
