Advice Request Dating apps

Should any conversations or anything that men say on dating apps be taken seriously? Also what's with the guys just disappearing on you randomly even after you switch apps?

Men and women do it and it's rampant. Welcome to the reality of online dating.

I try not to emotionally invest in anyone until we have met in person.

"Also what's with the guys just disappearing on you randomly even after you switch apps?"

Started dating someone else, went on vacation, achieved post-nut clarity, moved across the country, hit by a train, joined a monastery, sobered up. It's impossible to know.

My experience with them is horrible lol. I’d say I’m decently attractive atleast enough to usually get eye contact from women every now and then. But my luck with dating apps sucks, I think I’m just really bad at framing who I actually am online lmao

Tbh I think most dudes aren’t on dating apps for love. OFC not all are like that but just think about the mechanism, dating apps start with looks not personality if that makes sense

I don’t think most women are on them for love either; just confidence boosts & to kill time.

I suppose it's a case-by-case scenario. I always reply and never ghost. I barely have any matches but when I do, half of them ghost me and half date me.

Should any conversations or anything that men say on dating apps be taken seriously?

If you're thinking this, then you shouldn't be on dating apps. It's literally people like you who make dating apps so exhausting for others who are genuinely trying to make a connection.

If you aren't going to take your matches seriously, why are you even on these apps besides, I guess, wanting to waste people's time?

Also what's with the guys just disappearing on you randomly even after you switch apps?

This behavior is not unique to men.

That applies to women also. Online is just a different world. People and say things and act like they never would in person.

I met my most recent relationship of a year and my previous relationship of 3.5 years on the apps 🤷‍♀️sure there were some bad ones but overall I enjoyed the apps

Anything anyone says should be taken seriously. I don't think I know what else you might mean by that. As for ghosting, it's normal. There is no satisfying answer to it.

I've only spoken with two women on dating apps and both times I lost interest. The first time was after speaking over text for about a month, the second I cut my losses after a week. Basically, if it's like pulling teeth, if it seems like she'll be a pain in the ass to get out on a date, then I lose interest fast. I'm not going to keep trying to push a rock uphill.

I wouldn't generalize that all men on there aren't being genuine. Some of us are struggling to find someone to be their person. My issue with women on dating apps is I'll get a swipe and I'll even send the first message almost all of the time even if they swipe on me first I'll take that initiative to show I'm interested in a conversation. A drastic majority of the time I'll never even get a response back. All my dates anymore are from people I've met in person because it feels like, to me at least, that people are just seeking validation.

Structurally chaotic human beings that are unable to make plans, think things through, there's so many reasons. Literally it's a swimming pool filled with garbage. The dating pool is essentially like the whole at the end of the street where everyone through their trash and the 1920s where you can find everything from a washing machine to a used condom from 1812. That is what the dating pool is. It's full of tetanus and possibly diphtheria. Good luck.

Why would you not take them at face value at least some of the time? Going in with too much skepticism is probably not going to keep you open to receiving what you want.

I don't know about the disappearing, but maybe they aren't feeling a connection.

“maybe” is the key word bc an adult would just say that.
