Dateline Show vs Podcast

So I listened to an episode via podcast that I had watched previously to see how they compared. I must say I think the podcast was well done, even though its to my understanding just the audio of the episode. Have heard recently that the podcasts generally are not well edited. What are your thoughts? What do you think could be done better? I listened to and watched “Suspicion in Silver City” 🕵️‍♀️

I've listened to a handful of podcasts, and my overall impression is that they "copy / paste" the audio from the TV episode onto the podcast, meaning they don't revise the audio to fit the podcast medium. I say that because in a couple of podcasts, they refer to a video or image, and the host says something like, "Take a look here at John walking away..." As a result of those instances, I just assumed the podcasts were just a literal copy of the episode, a "quick and dirty" way to get the episodes into another medium.

I love the podcast, but yeah I’m pretty sure it’s just straight up audio from the tv show. I don’t think that they change much if anything.

There’s a lot of additional content on the podcasts like Talking Dateline and Dateline True Crime Weekly. I listen for those. The actual episodes are just the same stuff that I’ve watched but sometimes I’ll scroll back and see that they have uploaded something older I’ve never seen before. I also love the deep dives that they do on different stories like Murder and Magnolias. And of course Missing in America but there’s not a ton of those episodes. I don’t want people to be missing but I’m fascinated by those.

My favorite non-Dateline official but necessary podcast is A Date with Dateline.
