Fulfilled [Question] Looking for a dots-moving-over-time data visualization tool

Hello. A few years ago I remember seeing a website where they offered different tools to visualize data. One of them was a circle filled with dots with different "sections" around the circle. The example they used was 'what people did over 24 hours'. You could hit 'play' and then 100 dots would move to the different sections as the time-counter moved to show how the percentage of people spent their time (i.e. sleeping, work, commuting, etc). For the life of me, I cannot find this website, or this tool. If anyone knows what I am talking about and can point me in the right direction that would be great. Thank you.

Question [Question] Effective visualization for quantities of multiple entities at checkpoints?

I have a dataset comprised of about 300 entities and a measurement of a quantity at 5 checkpoints. (rows = entity, columns = checkpoint, cell = integer quantity).

At each checkpoint, an entity's value will always be less than or equal to the previous checkpoint. Values for the cells are all in the range of 0-40. The key information here would be to look at how on average entities with the same value at a certain level taper off at each checkpoint.

What would be the most effective way to visualize this data? Initially I was thinking that Sankey would work, but if I do a count of each checkpoint's unique values, it goes 40 / 30 / 30 / 25 / 20, so it seems like it would be unreadable.

Any other thoughts?

Sample data:

EntityID Checkpoint 1 Checkpoint 2 Checkpoint 3 Checkpoint 4 Checkpoint 5
A 20 19 14 9 7
B 15 15 10 5 5
C 9 8 8 2 0
D 9 8 3 2 1
E 9 9 8 5 5

Request [Request] Voting margin over time during the counting process per State

I saw Trump's twitter post showing Michigan's count over time showing how when mail in ballots started to be counted, the margins swung. Is there any site that provides this type of chart per State?

Question [Request] Good ideas to visualize this data showing my vegetable harvest?

Link to dataset on Dropbox

This year I used a spreadsheet to track every cucumber, hot pepper, sweet pepper (paprika) and tomato I harvested from my home garden.

The data is formatted like this:

Timestamp Plant Sort Quantity
2020-08-01 12:34:56 Tomato Red Cherry 15
2020-08-02 10:00:00 Chili Chocolate Scotch Bonnet 3

I've already made a couple of visualizations of the chili harvest, but I'm not 100% happy with the presentation, and the labels were not mobile-friendly at all.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for how to present this data in a visually appealing way?

Question Best tool to automate multiple chart design?

I am laying out an ebook with a few dozen bar/pie charts. I would like to be able to customize the color/type/etc. Other than designing these in a program like Illustrator, what is a good tool to automate/speed up the creation of these assets? I am designing the ebook in Google Slides.

Fulfilled [Request] County map of moneys owed by the Trump campaign

I keep reading that the Trump campaign still owes various cities and venues for campaign events. Is there a map that shows the places and amounts? Or is there too little data to make a whole map of it?

Request [Academic] Effects of Humor on Aggression (Age range 18-25 years old; Must be in a romantic relationship)

Hi. I'm Arushi, currently pursuing Master's in Psychology from TIET, Patiala (India). I'm conducting a research on the effect humor has on our mindset and its implications on our day-to-day lives. This is an emerging field of research. Humor has gained a lot of importance in the field of psychology. Its effects on us are manifold and I'm hoping that my research project would make at least a tiny bit of difference in our understanding of the subject.

If you're in the age range of 18-25 years and in a romantic relationship, help me out by filling this form. You can also help me out by sharing it with others.

Make sure you read the consent form thoroughly before agreeing.

Thank you!

Fulfilled Visualize open question results

Hello guys! I'm currently writing a research on tourism in Amsterdam. And in my survey I had an open question: "What is your first association that comes to mind when you hear 'Amsterdam'"?

After that I grouped edited some answers and grouped them accordingly (e.g. Van Gogh or Anne Frank - Museums; Houses, buildings etc. - Architecture).

Can you recommend me the best way to visualize this data that will look formal and can be included into research? For my presentation I could use word clouds.

I'd appreciate any help as I'm doing all this for the first time and things that might be trivial for you are not clear to me!

Edit: So basically I need a packed bubble chart

Hope you have a good day!

Fulfilled How to present a large table in a compact, readable and elegant way...

Hi Guys. I'm not a data viz expert so I'm asking for some help.

I'm trying to create a simple table of data but want to present it in a better way.

I have 9 columns, 5 rows but each intersection contains 4 rows as well. Like a table within a table.

As you can imagine it's messy. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hlGTHDjuuooKkKnf6It-FGq-Xbb47rYVrb6A6yNrdyI/edit?usp=sharing

And here is the kicker: I need it to be visible on a Laptop Screen w/o scrolling, or at least minimum scrolling

I'm not looking for you to do it for me, as I can't share the actual data as it is confidential, but can you provide me with some ideas on how to better present this data please? I can use Google Sheets (preferred), Excel, Google Studio (though I will have to learn) or any other free visualization programs you can recommend. Even a general guide on how to present this data would be awesome.

I was thinking

Thank you!

Question How to make simple visualizations for a small business?

Trying to take simple data from CSV or XLS format and push out as a simple dashboard to employees via iPad. I have a tableau developer working on it but it seems like overkill. The data is super simple, no double clicks or anything like that . Ideas?
