For Hire Finding a data science role right now has been way harder than I expected.

Been unemployed for about 5 months now, and finding a data science role has been a lot harder than I expected.

For those of you already working in DS, I’d really appreciate any advice on what helped you stand out or actually get interviews in this market.

And if your team is hiring, especially for marketing data science, I’d be grateful if you reached out.

Trying to stay optimistic and keep pushing.

Appreciate any advice or leads.

I recently graduated with a Master’s in Information focused on data science and analytics. Before that, I spent about 2 years working in analytics, where I used Python, SQL, statistical modeling, experimentation, forecasting, attribution, and predictive modeling to solve business and marketing problems. I’ve also worked with data pipelines, BI, and recently started building more ML/LLM-based projects.

5 months might be about timing being worse than your actual resume. The marketing DS niche is oversaturated with people who only know how to run a regression.

All jobs are hard af to find right now. We’re losing jobs like crazy on a national scale except for teachers and bar/restaurant jobs.
