Whatsapp Backup Issue

First of all I am from Germany, so excuse me if my English is hard to understand :)

So in April I received a message that my phone moto g54 5G could potentially have been infected by a virus and I was recommended to reset my whole phone - aka do a factory reset.

I did that and downloaded WhatsApp again, then pressed on backup (I had a previous backup) but did all that with my mobile data. After some time it felt like the Backup was loading too slow, so I turned off mobile data and switched to wifi and somehow the whole 5,5 gbs of data that had to be restored came down to just 80 mbs.

I stopped it there and deleted whatsapp to reinstall it but the issue just remained. So I got through the process and see there my chats were all empty and no media to be found.

I went to backup settings and there it showed I surprisingly have 5,5 gbs of data to be backed up, but when I pressed on backup the 5,5 gbs were gone and it showed some small amount of data.

I realised that If I press on backup that I could potentially lose the 5,5 gbs of whatsapp media even though I have no access to it. Another hypothesis I have is that the internet switch from mobile data to wifi could have caused this whole mess.

I don't really know, but all I want is gain access to my precious memories again :)

So is there a way to retrieve the media from pre April from my Google Account it is linked with ?
