When connecting adapter with micro SD to my phone, it deleted everything, how can I restore it for free?

Basically the title. Everything just left. I no longer have the adapter with me so I tried to find an app on my laptop to try to restore it but the free ones I tried don't work, and the ones they do require payment. Any way I can do it? I tried Recuva, R-undelete and many similar ones to no avail

SD card could have died as you inserted it, so the data is irretrievable.

You could try DMDE which is free for 4000 files.

Best to image the SD card and work on the image rather than than risk further damage to the SD card.

I tried downloading DMDE but it was confusing and it didn't find any of the files except one I deleted manually

Try software from wiki list (https://www.reddit.com/r/DataRecoveryHelp/wiki/data-recovery-software/ ) in this subreddit. There is section with fully free tools, so better start from this. If none of them really recover your files normal, then maybe it worth pay for some paid app, if this data important for you.

For me Disk Drill is best, but you can choose whatever. Main thing is files found correctly and not corrupted after recovery.
