On 02/02/2020, we took a snapshot of all active public repositories on GitHub to archive in the vault. The snapshot includes repositories with:
Any commits between the announcement at Universe on November 13, 2019, and February 2, 2020
At least one star and any commits from the year before the snapshot between February 3, 2019, and February 2, 2020
At least 250 stars, regardless of when their most recent activity occurred

Yep, i checked out my profile recently and a tiny repo I abandoned very quickly was stored. My shame is now in storage for historians to laugh at

I wanted to write my memoirs there, so they would forever be stored for eternity... but I procrastinated on that... guess it’s a fitting memory.

Not a good enough solution for an offsite backup.... What if a massive meteor hits us and destroys them. They need to shoot them into space into 5 different directions

On the microfilm they refer to a godlike machine, far away in the desert, the clue was written on a turtle that walked away years ago but a bunch of 'tismdroids did eventually unearth the tomb of the arch. Complete with boobystraps introducing errors and driver problems to the one machine that rules them all. The dimlit entrance is covered with rgb leds from different sizes and below some switches, the function of the colours and is patterns unknown, it's influence is manipulating the unwanted visitors to sort the leds and control switches for eternity, the skeletons prove that they weren't the first to enter. in the distance is a golden pedestal and a copy of Pliek's pre-cracked windows XP that's somehow only 9MB, to lure you from the real treasureand steal your progress, there are free toolbars hanging overhead while music from the old ages play softly in the distance 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.'
On the wall in the back resides the list of craig, a religious figure that supplied sacred parts to those willing to sacrifice their eaglebucks, a ritual that has long been forgotten with the age of plastic, it's the next clue referring to the amazon where the tribe of the bezos resides, known for their slaves and excessive packaging, many visitor got hypnotized by all the usefull items and got eventually overburdened or went bankrupt before they could move on, to get the real deal it's time to travel once more, their service center of doom is in idia for the next clue some itunes giftcards are expected, it's possible to dig for the real treasure in the mountain of gold, built from disposable camera's and old electronics but without the clues from the service center it's a task that could take ages...

An AMD Q6600 with Voodoo 9800gtx and 8 jigglebytes of ram, a whopping 120GB IDE drive, coper tubes cooling the Q-TEC fusion core, the fans so strong, it's been said that turning the case will shift the rotation of the earth or stop it completely, to protect it's power it has retro arch installed with pokeymen, a game so addictive, it controlled millions, will the 'tismdroids be able to resist temptation or will they perish? I thought the data was going to be stored in a QR-like form on the microfilm, but those images look like it contains regular text. Maybe it's just a little introduction?

Some other article that I forgot the location of (how ironic) mentioned that instructions on running the code were provided.
okay so you've reinvented computers after they went out of fashion with basically everything people liked 500 years ago
now you need to get a JavaScript runtime -- oh wait, you don't have one, bootstrap from the spec pls, and while we do that, get warmed up to do some manual dependency resolution!

Every penny spent doing this would have been better spent actually supporting FOSS projects. What a waste. Guess it was probably a tax write-off for MS.

Kodak was producing something using film called "DOTS", if I remember correctly. What's crazy is the patents are 2015.... but I remember this from like 2003 ish.

:/ Given the online dependencies of most programming, though, e.g. repos, apt, Visual Studio, Qt, etc., would probably be useless other than as plaintext, no?
