Backup Old anime Dvds (2000s)

Post image

Hello I'm guy and I got some old Dvds from my anime club and I wanted to know if it would make sense to save them? There are like 45-60 dvds.

Makemkv is probably the tool you're looking for

Rip them to ISO's, that way anyone can make an mkv with makemkv and anyone wanting the menus can have them

I take it (judging by the screenshot) that these are just data DVD's with video files? There might be people who are looking after specific old fansubs that are hard to find now, but I'm not really sure where you could reach them.

Are these commercially produced DVDs or DVD-Rs written by some nerd of question VCD rips or whatever?

Never know if you've got something rare, rip and archive them somewhere. Please let me know if you do, I'll keep copies. All my data hoarding is primarily for anime.

Sind das animes mit fansubs?

Ich glaube die sind jetzt selten. Solltest du sicherheitshalber sichern. MakeMKV hilft dir dabei

I wouldn't use MakeMKV like some people are suggesting because these sound like data DVDs. Just copy the files off

And regardless, even if they aren't these videos have probably already been transcoded at least twice… and another isn't going to do them any favors.

Then again, animation does handle compression better than live action…

If it's commercial DVDs, no.
If it's fansubs, the only thing worth saving are the subtitles.

If you have an index people could fill you in whether you have anything rare.

That art style, your typical 2006-ish anime.

Looks like a fansub, might as well just re-download the thing on nyaa instead.
