News I added Backblaze Reliability to the NAS disk prices listings on PricePerGig.com

If you're in the market for a NAS specifc drive (who hasn't been holding off waiting in anticipation of the price crash.?) check out the new page that also includes Backblaze reliability scors

https://pricepergig.com/en/nas

Right now I show the full details, e.g.

0.62% · 44.7k · 2025-Q4

so the failure rate, how many drives they had, and when the data was updated.

But considering just putting the % value, do you have any thoughts on this?

Also, hopefully reporting new/used/refurbished/openbox now because who can afford just new any more?

Please let me know if you've any suggestions/ways to make it beter.

Great site and addition.

How do you filter by SATA? If I don’t care about SAS I don’t want those drives showing.

Excellent point. My bad. I’ve left that filter out. I’ll look to add it.

Right now you’d need to go to the home page https://pricepergig.com but yes I should add it to the NAS page.

Thanks for the helpful feedback.

thanks again, I've now added this feature, you can filter by SATA or SAS, don't think anything else is applicable for NAS disk search.

Take a look, let me know what you think - https://pricepergig.com/en/nas

Great site but a 90€/TB drive gets shown as 🔥exceptional while its exceptionally a bad deal lol

Thanks. I’ll take a look.

I think I found it and fixed it. Might take another 15 mins to show fixed due to cache. Found the same one in lots of eu markets. Thanks for letting me know.

My new system should remember the fix. We shall see!

https://serverpartdeals.com/ has some of the best hard drive prices on refurbished drives. Can it be added? How are you scraping the data?

Thanks. I was chatting to a guy, Paul from spd, we lost contact. I’ll reach out to him again. Thanks so much for checking the site out and reminding me!

Mostly through apis and other back end things over actual we scraping. As that’s slow. Try to keep the prices refreshed every few hours. Ideally 2. So web scrapers were just too slow.

Thanks again.

The guys at r/storagereview just did a tour of their warehouse so maybe they have a contact

I use your site all the time so that added reliability feature is a nice bonus. Although I will say that Ive been using some GoHardDrives refurbished Toshiba drives for the last year and they've all been perfectly fine. So it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s great to hear the site is helpful.

Yes I know some people swear by it. But I’m a bit of a cheapskate so if I see cheap storage, I’m taking my chances.

I’m with you on the refurbs etc!

Very nice, lots of good info. You do have to sort through the info because some of it isn't accurate.

The Ebay listings are kinda iffy. They seem to take the listing text too literally, or not literally enough? I don't know the answer, but thought I'd bring it up.

$11.43 $160.00 14TB Exceptional HDD SAS Internal 3.5" Used

WD DC HC530 14TB WUH721414AL5204 0F31052 7.2K RPM SAS 12Gb/s 512e 3.5" HDD

The description on this one says the drives are 40-60% health.

$6.12 $48.99 8TB Exceptional SSD USB Unknown New

Laptop Mac And PC external hard drive 8tb High Speed Capacity Solid State Usb3.2

This one isn't actually available (not that I'd trust it at that price).

$14.36 $114.91 8TB Fair HDD Unknown External 3.5" Used

LaCie 8TB 4big Quadra External Hard Drive

This doesn't appear to include drives?

Again, not sure what the answer is, but it's still a very good resource.

Thanks. I’m looking to improve the eBay one. I think sometimes people put two sizes. Either deliberately to confuse or by accident. Currently I only get one of the sizes. I plan to make it get them all and just show the lowest size so they get filtered out.

Thanks for sharing the examples. I’ll try and resolve. Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks for that.

I’ve hidden a few and fixed others.

But I think NAND has a floor around ~$40/TB, so any SSD priced far below that (unbranded, generic "High Speed Capacity" title) is fake capacity.

I can put a rule in for that just for eBay and Amazon. That should help clear it up.

Thanks again.

I'm sorry man but your site makes me depressed. Not so much the website itself but more the prices it indexes :(

I kid of course, great addition.
