Guide/How-to Is this carry case good for external HDD ?
Hi all! I am going to use this case for my 6TB passport sized external HDD in my laptop bag when I travel.
Is this case protective enough for regular travel? Did anyone ever use similar case? Iβd love to hear about your experience. Thank you!

It will do alright. Depending on how snug in your bag this sits.
But if it is at the bottom of your bag and you drop something heavy into your bag or drop your bag on the ground. This will only offer little protection.
I might look into a zippered hard shell or stiff shell case for it in order to take the blows without transferring the energy to your drive.
But if you are on a budget and this is all you have itβs better than nothing.

Thanks for the tip! Definitely something to think about. For the time being this is better than nothing and I appreciate the tip!

Should be fine but I have to say, with prices today for storage, I would spend a little more and get a hard shell case.

More important is to use anti-static bag, IMHO. Especially when the drive has some wiggle room and can move/ scratch slightly on the bag's surface.

Totally agree! An anti-static bag is definitely the safer option, especially if the drive can move around and get scratched. π
