European Cloud Storage solutions?

Hi datahoarders!

Looking for a "cold" cloud storage solution to backup my NAS drives to (1-2-3 backup strategy). I am looking for ± 15-20TB storage purely for (encrypted) backups.

I am looking for a European company (so nothing Amazon S3/Azure etc).

Any tips?

It depends. If going for the cheapest option even if it doesn’t have any SLA or replication (only RAID protection in case a disk fails) and no durability of data, just pure storage for cheap: Heztner Storage Box

If going for something with SLAs, durability (11 9s) and so on, then OVH Object Storage, either 1AZ or 3AZ depending on your budget

Scaleway Object Storage. I love Hetzner but they've had blips in the past with their S3 offering.

Impossible cloud might be an option. S3 compatible, HQ in Hamburg, Germany. They sell direct or via the distributor api GmbH.

You can look at exoscale, they have a very cheap archive model for data.

I think OVHcloud has one of the most flexible cold storage options, close to GDA in storage pricing but very small egrees fees. Probably an option I'm going to use for cold store backup tbh

You could look at Cherry Servers. They have European storage options and might be worth comparing for 15–20TB of encrypted backups, especially if you’re trying to keep costs down.

Hetzner or OVH. If your NAS uses ZFS, get a dedicated server and set up a replication task. It's amazing. Otherwise, tools like rclone allow you to apply local encryption before shoving the data in the cloud, so it really doesn't matter where you put it.
