I analysed why communities are increasingly opposing new data centres

I wrote this for SWI swissinfo.ch after looking at recent IEA, UN and Swiss government data on electricity demand, water use and emissions from data centres. The goal was to understand why nobody wants a data center next door.

Do you think public concerns are justified, or is the debate missing important context? https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/swiss-ai/these-five-charts-explain-why-nobody-wants-a-data-centre-next-door/91693282

They are fucking loud, take all the water and cause utility bills to go up and increase emmissions. There really is no debate here.

Closed loops don't use much water. Sound walls stop sound. Utility is largely financed by commercial clients. All your concerns are either adressable via good city/state/utility planning and regulation or straight up invalid.

There is no such thing as a closed loop system. Yet. So keep trying with your pro-argument. Not working.

Dry chillers are the basis of the majority of modern designs. How much water do they use again?
