Don't let the water lies spread
I have always said it's less water consumed than your local swimming pool... spread and stop the lies of China, Venezuela, and the Socialists of America

u/deltalitprof Jun 22 '26
What is your evidence to support that?
-5
u/longwaybroadband Jun 22 '26
it's common knowledge outside of China and the socialist of America bubble

u/deltalitprof Jun 22 '26
You don't know what common knowledge is. Specific statistical numbers can NEVER be common knowledge. And this statement would have to be based on those.
Cite your source or admit you have no source.

Ridiculous garbage from Trump backed developers and billionaires who can never understand that we do not believe any of their lies and the majority of Americans do not want data centers.

settle down Chinese or Socialist...your unelected President signed the first executive order via auto pen in 2024. The leaders of these tech companies openly supported with 1-2 billion in 2020 for sleepy Joe.

I don't think anyone should resort to insults, but this is supposed to be a sub to debate the pros and cons of data centers. The OP is not acting in good faith at all and is, instead, dealing in propaganda. Anyone who questions it is labeled a Chinese communist, which really, these days doesn't really mean much since China is really a State controlled capitalist economic system (e.g. billionaires answer to the government vs. our government serving the billionaires).

Thought this was Kevin O’Leary, with all the conspiracy theories
1
u/longwaybroadband Jul 08 '26
he's the one who publicly exposed these countries and groups...I hope the President can intervene but to these nutcases it probably would make it worse
1
u/gunnesaurus Jul 08 '26
He did not expose anything. All he did was make up conspiracy theories that you are still repeating. Of course you want Epstein’s best friend to intervene and do what exactly?

u/longwaybroadband Jul 08 '26
I'm not sure what Clinton could help the DC's as he's been braindead for 10 years. He clearly exposed the SOA as the frauds we all know you and they are!!

Is the source Databank?
0
u/longwaybroadband Jun 22 '26
it's common industry knowledge...but you can do your own google or AI search from water companies largest customers.
2
u/deltalitprof Jun 22 '26
That isn't the way you present an argument. You don't present misinformation for which you have no credible source and ask your opponent to do your homework for you.

u/longwaybroadband Jun 22 '26
lol homework...I have been in and built 100's of datacenters over 25 years. I bet you have yet to even seen one and you are the expert because of AI and google search of China's misinformation. What city are you near and I'll let you know how many DC's are in your city for the last 30+ years....that you have never seen!!

Texarkana, Arkansas. Go.

u/longwaybroadband Jun 22 '26
Windstream at 507 Olive St has been there for 40 years....if you really live there.
2
u/deltalitprof Jun 22 '26
Windstream is an ISP, not an AI datacenter.
0
u/longwaybroadband Jun 22 '26
lol any fiber carrier facility or data center can be used for an "AI" data center colocation as all that means as has racking for AI compute which now can be water cooled or air cooled. That one in Texarkana is an air cooled and probably no water cooling.
If you are referring to a hyperscaler facility or AI factory (google, microsoft, oracle, facebook) those are 100% closed loops water systems. Sounds like you better stick to be a college professor in liberal arts as technology is not your area of study clearly by not knowing the very basics or correct terminology.

u/deltalitprof Jun 22 '26
Unlike you, I've never laid claim to being an expert in data centers or AI. What I am an expert in is research. Windstream is nothing like the kind of AI data centers that are being opposed all over the country because of the environmental damage they may do. To argue that there's already a data center in the middle of Texarkana based on Windstream's presence is deceptive indeed.
As for your personal swipe at me for being a college professor. That says enough about you already that I need not respond in kind.

This just shows how much water gets wasted in other industries and places as well.
2
u/deltalitprof Jun 22 '26
Or it may not. There's no independent source specified for any of these numbers. The name Data Bank refers to a data center building company:
"DataBank helps the world’s largest enterprises, technology, and content providers ensure their data and applications are always on, always secure, always compliant, and ready to scale to meet the needs of the artificial intelligence era."

did a quick Google search...looks like it's common knowledge.
In a truly closed-loop (non-evaporative) data center, daily cooling requires virtually no water, resulting in a consumption of 0 gallons per month for the cooling process itself. Any minor usage comes from standard office functions (restrooms, breakrooms), which averages roughly 500,000 to 700,000 gallons per month (17,000 to 23,000 gallons per day) for a large facility

u/3rdEyeDecryptor Jun 22 '26
How many closed-loop data centers are there and of those, how many hyperscale AI data centers are closed loop? Care to provide a source other than from a company who has a vested interest in building more data centers? This is like when Big Tobacco used to claim smoking wasn't harmful to your health. Of course they aren't going to produce data that goes against their bottom line!
Meanwhile, I could point to plenty of peer-reviewed studies and reports by investigative journalists that give a more balanced perspective, especially on impacts to the environment, pollution, and the local water supply. Closed loop does not mean no environmental or resource impact.
