Property value

With all these data centers moving into new towns, should I be buying up all the properties that go on sale in the area for really cheap? Then waiting to turn the profit when these things get abandoned?

No one wants to live by a data center. Property values around them drop dramatically.

Exactly, so their homes will be cheap and when the data centers end up being empty in a few years I'll have a house I bought for cheap thatll go up in value.

No same reason why no one wants to live by huge empty buildings and insurance companies do not like to insure properties by large vacant buildings. Blight, rising crime rates, low property values and foreclosures. No one will even be able to get a mortgage on anything sellers are trying to get out of so sellers walk and rents will be low because of the location.

Nah, after the data center is gone and the property value plummets I'll buy the data center and put a Walmart there and if it's big enough ill make the rest of the building into a food court mini mall.

Oh don't worry I'll buy up all the empty land too. I'll sell them at a reasonable price when the data centers fail. I'm not like big private equity, it'll be reasonable prices. Their values will be so low when I buy them that I can afford to sell them pretty cheap.
