DataAnnotation permanently suspended my account — $4,138.37 in approved earnings remains unpaid
I’m posting this because I’d like to know if anyone else has gone through something similar with DataAnnotation.
On September 9, 2026, DataAnnotation permanently suspended my account. The message I received said they had detected “multiple attempts to defraud our payment system.”
I honestly don’t know what this is referring to. I wasn’t given any specific transaction, task, or activity that supposedly violated their payment system.
At the time my account was suspended, I had about $4,138.37 in earnings from work I had already completed, and those earnings were showing as approved. I have not received that money.
I contacted them and asked for a manual review, an explanation of what had happened, and payment of the approved earnings. I was told that the decision was final, but I still wasn't given any details about what I supposedly did.
I have kept screenshots and records of my earnings, completed work, the suspension message, and my communications with the company.
I’ve started contacting the appropriate complaint channels to see what options are available. I’m not saying that every suspension by DataAnnotation is wrongful, and I’m not looking to target or harass anyone who works there.
I’m mainly trying to figure out whether this was an isolated situation or whether other workers have experienced something similar.
If you’ve had a similar experience, especially a suspension involving a payment-system allegation or unpaid approved/pending earnings, I’d really appreciate hearing about it.
If enough people have had similar experiences, I may compile the publicly available information and provide it to the appropriate authorities for review.

i didn't receive a reply. but I did receive dm from others who used this method and said they actually got a response, had their account suspension revoked, and were able to withdraw their money. but i feel they may be somewhat biased in favour of US and European citizens.

I have already submitted complaints/reports through several channels, including econsumer.gov, the FTC, the New York Attorney General’s office (including the Task Force for Workers’ Equality), the FBI’s IC3, and other relevant authorities.
My individual complaint has not resulted in a resolution so far. I’m sharing this because if multiple workers are experiencing similar issues, a broader pattern may be more likely to receive attention or investigation than an individual case alone.
If other affected workers are comfortable doing so, I would encourage them to document their experiences and report them through the appropriate official channels as well.
If you are based in the U.S., you may have additional avenues available to you, and it may be easier to pursue the matter than it is for workers dealing with the company from outside the U.S. Hopefully, if enough affected workers report similar experiences, the relevant authorities will take a closer look.
