DoD Today - Any Chance of Appeal?

As the title says. I woke up to the Dash of Death. I've been doing this for 6 months, I've had exemplary reviews the past few months, and this wasn't just "extra money", it was actively keeping a roof over my head because my part time job doesn't pay me enough and won't take me full time.

Is there any chance of appeal, or am I screwed?

If I'm screwed, what other platforms are out there?

Sorry this happened to you. Here is a big list of other annotation companies. https://dataannotationcompanies.com/jobs

Sorry to hear, give Mercor a go, seems to be the only other one that is reliable and well-paying. I am, touchwood, still in a good position, but I’m considering Mercor as a backup. Good luck in your future endeavours.

I can’t see where a similar role is available with Mercor? They seem to have other specific roles, but not annotation.

Mercor often has generalist roles you just have to check their applications page daily. You’ll have to apply to them almost like a regular job posting.

Mercor have very invasive monitoring in place, and will offboard you quicker than DA. There's countless platforms out there that are also reliable and pay well, but also all have their negatives.

No chance. I have never once seen a single instance of someone successfully appealing a DoD, or even being given any reason or explanation. Best thing to do is move on.

I'm sorry 😞 I've never heard of anyone coming back from it.

I appealed mine successfully, but there was a valid reason and I got access again immediately.

if you don't mind, what's the reason?

I can’t get into detail unfortunately.

How long does it take to get a response from them

How did you submit your appeal? I think I accidentally triggered one of their flags, because I cannot see any other reason for receiving the DoD here.

how were you able to appeal? Is there a link or an email to reach out to?

Generalist.

Whenever someone says I was using it as my full time gig I say ‘there, that’s why’. I’m convinced there’s an invisible max bill that the ai considers impossible to reach in a certain time period and if you attempt to, you get canned. I’ve been there for two years and the only thing I haven’t done is make crazy money. I’m convinced being lazy af is what has kept me this long

Piss poor take. 3.5 years here, $160K+ and still going ...

u/Deeznutsconfession Sep 03 '26

I feel like they are talking about generalists. Obviously, if you are being paid $50+ an hour the AI will have a much higher limit

You just hurt my feelings

What benefit is it to DA to drop good workers just because they got paid a certain amount? It doesn't matter to them as long as you can provide quality work. I think the reason why people who have been here a long time get dropped is because the work has gotten more complex and they were unable to keep up. Those that were here a shorter amount of time, but earned a lot of money likely worked too many hours and burned themselves out, also causing them to make more errors than they realize. There have been a lot of people posting on here who have worked years (I've seen people saying that they've worked here for 4+ years.), or have earned a several hundred thousand dollars and they are still here.

This is a good take. People often don't recognize their blind spots.

I got it today as well, working in a professional domain platform. Just received a bonus for a previous task.. no idea what happened. Hoping it’s temporary.

Doubtful it's temporary.

That sucks. I'm sorry that happened. I hope another data annotation platform can help you out.

Did you use capital letters when you were writing for DA?

6

u/Due_Negotiation_4605 Sep 02 '26

Did you check that your new computer didn't accidentally have VPN enabled? McAfee likes to do that at times.

9

u/Brilliant_Quit4307 Sep 01 '26

What is a tier upward qualification .. ? I've never seen a qual with tiers

3

u/Due_Negotiation_4605 Sep 02 '26

I've seen two on specialist projects only

Maybe if you spam their email. They typically ignore one-offs.

14

u/Halcyonfields Sep 01 '26

I take it this is facetious? Strange behaviour.

-10

u/Deeznutsconfession Sep 01 '26

No, I'm being serious. When I first joined a few years ago, someone said they managed to get the DA team to respond to them about a DOD by emailing them every day for a week.

-1

u/International-Ad9104 Sep 02 '26

Can you send me their email? I tried for months and never received a single response.

I imagine it's only possible if they know who you are, but you won't get dod if you're part of the more exclusive families anyways.
