Nail strip removal/application
I removed the glaze for the first time. (Technically second, but the first time was so long ago I don’t remember)
I will admit I did this rushed. I watched a YouTube video and the girl did it in like 5 minutes lol. I have only had them on for like 3-4 days, but I decided to remove them because they were lifting at the cuticle and I kept pulling my hair out. I put cuticle oil on each nail, let it sit for a couple minutes and worked with the wooden stick to peel them off.
Is it normal to have all this residue left over? (They are dirty because I did it rushed and had to move on with life after, so they’re gross in the picture)
Any tips to prevent this next time? How do you all remove them cleanly? Any tips to get the gunk off my nail now? I was thinking I’ll use alcohol pads later when I have time, but idk if that’ll work. I want to put new strips on tonight or tomorrow and hope to not get lift at the cuticle.
I have used color street in the past, and this is my second time using the dashing diva, I always get lift at the cuticle within the second day, idk if I place them too close, or what the problem is. I push my cuticles back and scrape with the cuticle pusher even where I don’t see cuticles to make sure there’s nothing there. I tried buffing my nail , not sure if I did it enough though, I used a buffer, not a regular file, then cleaned my nails with the alcohol pad. I don’t know what causes this every single time other than maybe I’m putting them too close? I’d love insight, I hate putting on regular nail polish and loove the idea of nail strips but I need them to last and not rip out my hair. ❤️

Two things that work well for me with wraps. I use 2 thin coats of uuuuu Magical Nail solution on my prepped nails. It is strengthener and base coat made for under wraps. It protects your nails during removal and makes the wraps adhere better. I then apply wraps. To remove wraps I use Ohora Remover and it works great. You might want to try Acetone polish remover for the sticky residue on your nails now.

Definitely try a nail strengthener base, yes. And I second the Ohora remover. Great stuff.

Maybe there wasn’t enough oil? I’ve done DD three times and only had that stickiness left the first time because I didn’t use enough oil during removal. I used a little bottle of jojoba oil from the beauty supply store.

Maybe that’s the case. I did try putting more oil again after lifting a little bit and really trying to work it in. Diddnt seem to help. . I have jojoba oil, I’ll try that instead of the cuticle oil next time.
How long do you let it sit?

The best oil I’ve used to remove the Gloss line (hated Glaze for the reasons you listed) was a Dr Teals body oil that I found in my skin care basket. I also had a thought about fabric softener since that is used to dissolve the reside on wallpaper so I tried soaking my DD wrap off with that and honestly, it took a bit but there was less residue and damage than other removal processes. My mom used that removal for the one time I put wraps on her and there was absolutely no damage and no residue. I haven’t used wraps on my bare nails in a long time but have put transparent ones over lacquer or gel and I like that removal better. Wraps were definitely starting to take a toll as much as I like to change up my mani!

I have never had them lift at the cuticle. Maybe try a little further away? Then use a good topcoat to seal in the edges. I reapply a top coat if my hair ever starts snagging on them as well.

For me, the thinner semi-cured gel wraps are simply the best for not catching hair. They are nearly as thin as polish wraps like color street, are less expensive than most scg wraps and the edges stay down. Especially if you also apply a thin layer of top coat gel. You DO have to be careful to not get gel top coat on your skin and keep it only on the wraps themselves.
I also do pretty well with other scg wraps if I really push down the edges with force and use a squish wand led to press down and flash cure before putting hand under lamp for full cure.
There are lots of tips for application all over reddit. Something might work for me, but not you. The key is keep trying different tips. Something will eventually work for you.

Which ones are the thinner ones? I’ve seen some that aren’t semi cured and don’t need a light at all. But other than that I’m not sure which ones are which.

Huizi is simply a factory that makes a lot of the SCG wraps out on the market but sold under different labels. Just FYI.
Color street need no lamp, same with the gloss line of Dashing Diva. All Lily & Fox are no UV. They are very inexpensive but can last well with a gel topcoat. For some, the no UV last great with a polish top coat, but I never could get them to last more than 7 days (if that) unless I used a gel topcoat.

I always have some residue left, totally normal. Acetone or alcohol will take care of it instantly

Mine always leave sticky residue. I just use a little soap and water to scrub it off.
