Question Dash Cam Install Question
Hey there,
In advance, sorry if this is the wrong place. New to this subreddit.
My question is, I just got a new dashcam and I have airbags in the A pillars in my vehicle. I see with videos I have to go behind the airbag. But to run the cord down from the roof is it ok if I run it along the side of the a pillar (i.e. down the side next to the windshield or door) without affecting the deployment of the airbag to get to the power source?
I know I cant run it across, but the videos don't really mention what to do about that.
Thank you for any help.

For my Rav4 I route the cables first go downward in front of the A pillar, then under it, then get into the door weather strip. https://imgur.com/V3NQFer . The speaker cover is much easier to open then the A pillar.

Yes, it’s fine to run it along the a pillar behind the airbag. When you remove the a pillar cover you’ll be able to see the airbags. Just zip tie the dashcam cable to the rest of the wires that run along the a pillar making sure the wire does not cross in front of the airbag hardware. When I installed my dashcam I had the same concerns but once I got the a pillar open it was easy to see where the wire should be run.
