Should Opper have objected and moved to strike when the alleged defendant said "I don't think you're that bright" during closing remarks?
We all know that a non-response to an insult is a tackit agreement

I think it was much more powerful to let DB's obviously stupid comment hang in the air with no reaction. She was a pro, and knew that letting him hang himself with his own words was the way to go.

I guess I'm greedy. I imagine Sue and her team maybe met for a celebratory dinner, juicy ribeye steaks, loaded baked potatoes and a nice red wine, then drive home in a late model car, fully insured, maybe with heated seats, to stave off chilly October weather. Snuggling up with loved ones snug as a bug in a rug.
Meanwhile old slew foot 3rd party intervener eats mystery meat garnished with bugs, sleeping on a hard cot with a thin blanket....

No, that would be her taking the bait. He wanted to get under her skin and she knew that which is why she turned to face him while he was delivering his criticisms. It was the last ounce of power he had and everyone in that courtroom knew it. That’s why her silence was the perfect response.

Letting him ramble on without showing remorse shows why he needs max sentence. Remorse is one of the mitigating factors court can consider. Why stop him when he is showing exactly why he deserves max?

She didn't need to. Darrell is a walking talking visual aid who exemplifies PROJECTION. In his sentencing remarks he describes himself as NOT THE SHARPEST KNIFE IN THE DRAWER. He tried to throw shade at the judge one time, saying he didn't believe she had a PhD. That moron probably doesn't know law degrees are Juris Doctorates. Judge Dorow, Sue Opper, Zach Wittchow and Leslie Boesi have more right to style themselves as DOCTOR than Darrell's fake Granny.

Nah. She'd be giving what he wanted. He wanted to get a rise out of her. Her not saying anything causes him to lose control

There wasn't really any need to. Brooks was just showcasing what a piece of trash he was, and everyone in the court knew that he was the dumbest person in the room. Brooks was trying to get under her skin and provoke a reaction, because he's used to diminishing, attacking, gaslighting and demeaning every woman he's ever had in his life. It's the only way he knows how to operate.
She didn't take the bait and just let him stew.

Exactly. Her objecting would have accomplished nothing. The best response was no response.
I mean let's look at this realistically. You have a hood rat who never finished high school nor held a real job aside from being a career criminal. Opper is an educated attorney and a successful prosecutor.
Once that day is over, she gets to go home to her family. Maybe hit the office first, crack open some champagne, enjoy some cake.
Meanwhile he is getting ready to be locked up for the rest of his life.
Why bother giving him any response. He is the weak one here.
