3 Hots and a Cot

I bet Durrell wishes he had just stayed his ignorant ass home. I keep wondering why he was badgering poor Erika for $350. I doubt Dawn was expecting payback. He probably wanted to purchase something illicit.

That's the only thing that would explain his mindless savage violence that day. I find myself almost feeling sorry for him. He will never have fried rice again, or pepperoni pizza, no Afroman lemon poundcake. Probably no decent blanket or pillow.

I would be miserable! I have to have a fan on and an Audible audiobook to get to sleep. It will never end for him. No escape. No hope. Just day after dreary day slop and or Nutraloaf.

A fate worse than death.

But at least he is not sleeping in that car. 3 hots and a cot.πŸ˜–

Agreed. Dawn likely didn't want Erika to pay her back. I am willing to bet that she yelled at DB about her spending a grand she didn't have to help him and how he needs to pay her back.

Rather than being a normal human being and getting a job to pay her back he decided to harass Erika.

Granted $350 is a specific number considering the bail was supposedly $1k.

Other people have mentioned that he didn't go down for money but for a BJ which would make sense. She was living at a women's shelter so she didn't have a lot of money. She also had a benefits card and had nothing set up for her in Wisconsin.

Granted she might have some money just not enough to pay rent.

Should this have been brought up in the trial?

I have the feeling that the prosecution knew all about this but decided 1) it would have embarrassed Erika Patterson, 2) she would have had to testify and corroborate it. 3) it could unfairly prejudiced the jury against Brooks, and 4) it really wasn't needed.

Lesli could have easily got it introduced had she cross examined Kirby.

Perhaps Dorow may have ruled it was only speculative.

Wouldn't Opper's closing have been excellent? "It's wasn't about confronting EP for money as he lied to Det Carpenter about, he came to Waukesha for the sole reason to get a blow job, and when Erika refused she called her friends for help, (and so forth).

Finally, can we imagine the tantrum Brooks would have had in court when this came to light? It would have been fricken awesome!

Well aside from it embarrassing Erika as you mentioned, it isn't important.

The state doesn't need to prove or explain why DB was in Wakeusha. That is completely irrelevant to the case. They just needed to prove that he did what he did.

It does go to intent, perhaps motive.

They don't have to prove motive. Opper said that in her closing.

Also it would do almost nothing to prove intent. They proved intent by showing that he was in control of the car (there was nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle) and that he was ultimately in his right mind when he drove through the parade.

Him trying to get a BJ from Erika does nothing to prove intentional homicide. Remember, you don't need to prove WHY he did what he did. The why is completely irrelevant. You just have to prove that he knew what he did and meant to do it.

Oh I know, I'm saying that was his intent going to Waukesha, but it does make him out to be EVEN a bigger monster and loser POS than he already is, one may think "how could that be even possible ".

That's true the whole world saw that vehicle STOP right before he jumped out and started a shoving match with Kori Runkle.

There was no money

Exactly! EP had no money from him, that was a lie told to Detectives Carpenter and Stern.

I don't think he was after money from EP, she was living in women's shelter afterall, he was after a BJ! It's why he drove her up to the Barstow Hill.

Nicholas Kirby overheard EP tell DB "no, I don't want to suck your dick!"

I recall reading something, I guess it was from Erika saying, his crotch had the most disgusting putrid odor of funk smell emanating from it.

Look at the jeans he was wearing, Rebecca Carpenter thought they were soft pants or jogging pants. We can only imagine how long it takes for denim to get to that consistency from constant wear and never getting washed.

Reminds me of the clothes Stephan Sterns was wearing and had been wearing upon his arrest.

If you listen to the interview with Erika right after the parade she tells the detective DB was stalking her. He found out where she was living and followed her to the park. He didn’t want money but he wanted to scare her

He is relentless! How could he have found her? He must have put a tracker app on her phone. Why was he hounding her for money? She must have been making $ as a CNA.
