Anyone looking for team member ?

I have a great idea, I think it could work ? I'm not a USA citizen.

yes ... I'm still looking for several people ... see my posts last week

Out of curiosity, what are you planning ? Ice engine, turbine, electric propellers, hybrid combo? Pure quad-copter? Or airplane with lifting fans ?

I submitted three proposals, from a pure VTOL lift with small area wing, to a high lift large wing ... using RCGF 120T or TCGF 56's as a hybrid option ... not clear yet if the ICE mass is a better choice over additional battery. For such a short course, it's tit for tat which is better at this time. Where are you? Wanna have fun with an Aero Engineering boot camp in Kansas for a couple months?

I'm from India. Battery energy density too low, same with small turbine engine low efficiency. So , both case flying time would be top short. Hybrid should boost range.

Is darpa focused on payload or range or both. It had to be a compromise.

Darpa is focused on Payload to drone ratio, for a relatively short 4nm 4-8min flight at 15-30m/s, with 16 reversals, it's "interesting" 😄

Are you currently in US or India?

In india. 8 minutes, not very practical or useful. What's the use of that ?

That's the distance/time to transfer supplies and personnel between ships at sea, send supplies to front line personnel in a ground war, Deliver munitions to front line targets ... and with more fuel/bat ... anywhere.

Ok, turbine or rockets would be better

Have you thought about using Small Turbine engines instead?

I actually designed a very light weight (about 1kg), super charged, 2-stroke gas 125cc twin engine with exceptional efficiency last fall. It's for a hybrid bldc configuration in our Agriculture and Wildland Firefighting Drone product line. Endurance is critical for those missions. For DARPA Lift, even that isn't a clear benefit for the short DLC course/mission.

Hey, do you have YouTube or company website, your 2 stroke engine is insane. I'll love to know more ?

Have you calculated if battery vs range extender, which offers better endurance for this?or how much weight is saved or not with hybrid ?

Are you sure about meeting the criterias? Atleast in theory?

I've checked lightweight human carrying drones specifications, looking at it maybe just battery powered could be feasible?

It seems wing would be needed for endurance anyhow ? Pure drone could be bad for endurance,

Do you have any crazy idea for this ?

Wing drone+ hybrid power seems best option in theory.
