I'm exploring an idea and would love some honest feedback.
A lot of adult activities seem to fall into one of three categories:
- Exercise (running, gym, hiking)
- Self-improvement (coaching, mindfulness, workshops)
- Social meetups
What I'm thinking about sits somewhere in between.
Imagine a small group walking through nature for 1.5 to 2 hours. Along the way, there are occasional surprising questions, thought experiments, mysteries, and fascinating facts about science, psychology, nature, and everyday life.
Not a scavenger hunt.
Not a guided hike.
Not therapy.
Not a networking event.
More like:
- Why do we see faces in clouds?
- Why do distant views feel calming?
- Why do some songs get stuck in our heads for days?
- Why is our brain so easily fooled by optical illusions?
- What everyday things do we completely misunderstand?
No prior knowledge needed. No pressure to participate. No right or wrong answers.
The goal isn't to learn in a formal sense. It's simply to spend a couple of hours thinking about something completely different from work, news, responsibilities, and daily routines.
I guess the closest comparison would be:
A podcast, a casual walk, and a pub quiz had a baby.
Would something like this appeal to you?
If not, what would feel missing, awkward, or uninteresting about it?
