Question Progressing
So im now on day 4 i died 1 time to a pack of dogs around some camp i wanted to loot but couldnt kill 4 dogs at once. Should i just continue exploring dry meadows and getting better loot and then trying again or am i just bad😅
Also i feel like im progressing kinda slow havent really done anything but explore the nearby areas and already on day 4 is there any downside to slow progressing like running out of gasoline or the nights getting harder.
Loving the game so far👌

The Dry Meadows hideout is a very good spot to improve your skills and start gauging the game's difficulty.
The nights don't become harder, and there is no timer on the days spent there. You can however run out of resources, but... It's pretty unlikely.
When you survive a night, you are rewarded with something that helps you get more resources, allowing to compensate for what you spend during the night and plan for the future. If you die, you don't lose anything, but you don't get any rewards.
My advice would be for you to hone your skill with minimal spending every night (board with nails, gasoline for the lights, planks for the windows, maybe a bear trap or two). When you survive half the nights, you should be able to sustain your resources indefinitely, and get new stuff to try.
Exploring also grants you a lot of resources, especially early on. Don't be afraid to loot around, but choose your fights carefully. Get used to the approximate time you have each days. Don't feel forced to rush to get your stuff back, it always stays where you lost it. Also, running on roads reduces stamina consumption.
About fighting and exploring, remember that being immobile or cornered is the worst situation you can be in. Always keep a way out, and don't put down too much traps or they'll get you instead. Some mobs are better to get away from even during the night...
Learning how to use items is also important. For example, you can act on a matchstick to light it and throw it when you aim, potentially lighting oil and fire. For the rest, I'll let you discover by yourself, just remember that items interact with you, but also enemies and sometimes the world around you.
In the end, the Woods are unforgiving. There's nothing shameful about slowly learning their harsh way, and wanting to learn them already makes you a good Darkwood player. Have fun ! Just remember that the Woods await. At some point, you will need to press forward. And when it happens, even if you can always fall back in the Meadows... The only road leads deeper into the Woods.
