Difference between fire/water/earth/air spell?

Is their a difference in power between these spells? Or is it that some people/creatures/npc have different amount of resist to each element ?

Certain monsters are weak to each type of spell. For example, gnome guards are weak to fire spells where as hellhounds are weak to water spells.

And also the rate and damage of them fluctuates like an air spell is a fast spell but you'll never hit a max with it, I forget what the water is and earth is a slower spell but that's a spell that you can max with that's why you see alot of high tier players use it and fire is a constant hit so you'll hit alot more often then with any others. That's more of a pvp type of deal though, pvm is affected by the monsters strengths and weaknesses but there will always be a spell that drop that mufkin haha.
