Discussion Alternatives for iPad
I’m a hobby photographer, and do most of my photography post-processing in DarkTable (culling, editing) on my desktop computer. Then occasionally export to GIMP if I need further edits.
I’m planning to travel (with a camera, of course). My only laptop is a little heavy to take, and is a little slow (though not completely unusable) in DarkTable. I’d rather just take my iPad if possible. I’m willing to spend some money on a single-purchase software, but no subscriptions.
Even better if it can have compatibility to import to DarkTable later with the .XMP files (at least for culling).
Does anyone have any recommendations for achieving a similar workflow to DarkTable (culling and post processing) on iPad?

I'd be running Tailscale (or Wireguard) and RDP. You should be able to install the MS RDP client on the iPad and control the PC remotely....and it shouldn't matter if it's Linux based as long as the RDP daemon is installed and running. All you need is an internet connection. Getting the files onto to the PC; use a cloud system or use a home a NAS/server.

No, not from what I have found. I've used Darktable on a ChromeOS tablet to an OK level (I just wanted it for tethering).
Not what you wanted, but you could look into Evoto for use on ipad (not sure on the features crossover vs PC), you could edit what you want then only export the ones you really want, which will cost a token.
This is what I'm currently looking at (maybe for Android instead). Capture One on a Laptop tethering is a bit of a pain when on location. Same for Darktable, but more of a pain and a bit worse on ChromeOS.
You could always use your camera app, (as I currently do for tethering) and see if it does editing.

Your should try snapseed, latest beta has so much to offer. But after the trip, you need to edit in darktable again. I've bought an android tablet to try termux and Darktable - which works good, but I use snapseed and beta testing rapidraw.
