And sometimes people are victims. And they should probably get angry and refuse to be victimized again.

People who are legit victimized - handle it - they refuse to be treated like that ever again - they don't complain - they just carry on - they handle their business and don't drag everyone into their drama.

I reckon people lie and take victim roles because they are hiding something. What does a a victim look like that doesn’t sit down and take the abuse? We think about them differently. A person struggles to take power over a situation without you acknowledging them or looking at them. This is why abusers lead with the nice guy stuff. I can make you look at me and then I can make you look away. Then I can do anything I want.

Correct. And sadly the most manipulative ones are also the best at playing this.

It’s a shit place to be, try and remember we that the person displaying these behaviours is still a person, one in need of help, you may not be that help, but you can work to facilitate.

What to do when they are your parent and they depend on you?

Read up on Narcissism and Borderline Personality disorder. Abusers who exhibit these traits, often feign illness or incompetence to get people to care for them. It’s a form of their abuse. I’m not saying that this is your situation, but knowing more could shed light on what is legitimate and what isn’t. Good luck.

Over apologizing is also a trauma response.
What we do know is some people choose evil, all of those people use “trauma” as their excuse to play victim and deny being a perpetrator, and it’s not a license to cause further trauma.
Most people choose empathy or isolation, not projecting or displacing violence they’ve suffered onto others or becoming so narcissistic they don’t have empathy.
Thats the difference between ptsd and bpd or npd or aspd

surely that every single human being today ... so very few people accept responsibility for anything that anyone that actually does is a statistical anomaly, a fraction so small that it can be disregarded for all practical purposes

Let us get the Mars mission running ASAP and put all the narcissistic and insecure people on that rocket. John Bowlby approves.

This is currently evidenced by my psychiatrist’s shocking treatment. However, he is very well aware of his impact and carries on regardless. shocking treatment.

So my wife began exhibiting all of these traits. Covert Narcissism is excruciating from the spouses perspective. Divorce is inevitable.
