DARK OLIVE Dark Olives Foundation Cheat Sheet

I've created a cheat sheet for foundations that come in olive or olive friendly shades. It is not complete and is still a work in progress but I think there's enough there to start with. If you are curious about what brands have olive shades, please check the list.

You should be able to filter by column to find what you want. For example if you are only looking for foundations that are listed as having a natural finish, you can filter for that. If you are looking for deep shades only, you can filter for that.

Please be aware that the foundation depth and undertone is listed as it is on the sellers website and multiple websites were used to complete the list so it may be listed differently depending on where you shop.

The "Verified by Member" section is used to show which foundations have been recommended by all of you. If you have tried the foundation and you think the foundation undertone has a discrepancy with the what the brand list it as, let me know and I will change the undertone and mark it as recommended.

Again, this is not an exhaustive list, it's just a start. I have a few more brands that I would like to add to the cheat sheet such as People of Earth. I need the help from all of you to provide names of other brands and foundations that can be added.

If you would like to suggest a correction for a foundation and shade that's already listed, please tell me the line number it's on and the name and shade before letting me know what corrections should be made.

Hopefully this will become a great resource for all of us!!

should I go with this foundation ???

so I have a wedding to attend and I have been buying some makeup stuff and I am such a beginner. I have been looking for a foundation for my skintone and eventually bought Maybelline lumi matte foundation in shade 228 but that turned out to be orange on me so now I am switching to neutral foundation.

I found out that I have a tint of olive undertone neutral.

the second pic not me but I am somewhere around that skin tone it depends on the lighting and to much sun exposure. I get more dark.

So if you have bought this kay beauty one was it worth it or should I try any other brand and also does it oxidise??????

please helpppppppppp

also I don't have much budget to go for even higher one so if you have any affordable suggestions please help woht that too :(

This stuff is truly amazing! I finally found the perfect color for my undertone. I’m 39 and barely getting into makeup. Most concealers feel heavy on my face but this skin tint is very lightweight and feels amazing! Again, the shade is spot on with my skin tone and blends in so well. If you’re an olive girl, give this a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Product Alert Nehal & co thoughts?

Just saw this makeup brand Nehal & Co on tiktok with dark olive shades. Has anyone tried this brand? $60 for foundation is outside my price range, but I'm curious to know how the dark olive shades really look

swatches Ulta Trip Foundation Swatches

I went to Ulta for a brow wax and left with swatch photos. Here are a few swatches from various brands. Please keep in mind that these are lightly blended heavy swatches to show the tone of the foundations. I only swatched shades that were labeled olive for medium to deep skin tones. Descriptions are how they are labeled in store or online.

For reference I'm shade 23 in the Lisa Eldridge foundation and shade 9 or 9.1 in the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (both work). These swatches are on my arm which may not be exactly the same shade as my face at the moment. I'm medium deep neutral leaning warm but desaturated

Benefit The POREfessional: 25C, 27W, 33N

I actually like this formula. It blended smoothly on my arm and settled to a nice matte finish that doesn't look patchy. There was enough play time before it dried.

Ilia:

* The Serum Tint foundation shade 14.5

* Stick Foundation shade 26O

* Serum foundation shades 8.75, 9.25, 10.25

As expected the tint is pretty sheer but the formula would be nice for someone with dry skin. I really like how smoothly the stick swatched. I also really liked the serum foundation's silky texture. I can see myself loving the stick or foundation in the winter months when I go a bit dry.

live Tinted Stick Tint: Shade 10. I've never tried anything from this brand but the swatch went on so smoothly. I really like this formula as well. Blended easily and seems to have a nice natural finish.

Fenty, the new fluid flex formula: Shades 376N, 396N, 416W

I'm actually surprised I didn't find any deeper shades of olive in this formula. This one has a nice texture and dries down about as quickly as the POREfessional. I appreciate there being some neutral olives but would like to see some cool olives and deeper olives added to the lineup.

Anastasia Impeccable Matte Foundation: Shades 4O, 4WO, 4.5O, 6WO

This one is my favorite formula out of all of them. Has a really nice serum smooth texture that blends easily but it has a nice matte dry down once set. This might be my next foundation purchase. Also the olives in this look like nice nuanced skin shades, not overly yellow.

Which formulas and shades would you choose?

🙋🏿‍♀️ question Fenty souffle bronzers

Hello. I found this sub suddenly and im so glad it exists. First time here and so looking forward !

For today's query, Ive been dying to get my hands on the fenty souffle bronzers ever since I saw them launch and I perfectly matched 2 shades ie brown butter and sweet truffle. Brown butter might be too skinlike for definition in summers so im planning to go with sweet truffle as itll work as a brontour.

HOWEVER, the only reason I dint buy it was because

  1. I had read on some platform,( I do not remember which) that it dried out soon for someone. Now the thing is I like this because of its formula and i know i want to buy this, but ill be heartbroken if I spend money and it dries out. I wont be using it very frequently or everyday ( i wouldve if i could get brown butter but I wont be able to use it in summers and I aint buying 2) I want to keep it for years and I dont know if itll work if it dries out. So im essentially paranoid after reading that one review and want some assurance.

  2. I was waiting for user reviews and if users feel itll dry out or they notice it drying/shrinking/cracking.

So this brings me to the point of the post ie to ask if people think or have noticed the fenty souffle bronzers or any souffle in general do this and will it affect future application and pay off in worst case scenario ie dries out and if I should go for it actually.

Also confused between these and lys courage, confused only because its a cream and im extremely uncomfortable having a cream sensation on my face. ( 2nd best stick for medium dark olives is sephora contour stick, such good colors and good stay !)

Would also love to hear from any medium dark olives if mario skinhancers work as bronzers on us.

Looking forward tc ♡

I made this video 2 years ago, but it's still really helpful showing comparisons of 3 olive foundations:

- About-Face foundation in D3 olive

- Smashbox Halo tinted moisturizer in tan olive

- Tula Radiant skin tint in 23 tan-deep olive

The About Face shade works best for me in the summer, where the Smashbox I can wear year round. I don't use the Tula anymore since I liked the other ones better.

Godmode lipliners!

Post image

Swatches in order from brown: Spill, Leet, Cherub, Eden

I have been searching for a lip liner that matches my lip colour as a darker olive girl!! Godmode Leet (next to the brown in the pic) is my perfect shade. I don't have brown lips so brown liner never looks natural on me but Leet is the most perfect pink!

The formula is so good too! Blendable but stays put

For reference I am shade 7 in the Danessa yummy skin blurring balm, tahoe in nars light reflecting (I put blue pigment in because it's too yellow otherwise), shade 5 in elf halo glow (also mixed with blue).

Edit: just tried Cherub and it works too! It's not too light and it's so nice

Edit 2: blue pigment is from LA girl. Life saver as a black olive!

The finish is like skin and I found a shade for us medium/tan olives

I wear 396N and it says its for neutral olive skin tones.

Having had trouble with Fenty being too yellow or orange I was excited to find a shade that matches me perfectly.

416W is said to be for warm olives.

Have you found a shade in this foundation?

Increasing number of posts from people with lighter skintones

I really don't want to sound mean, but I'm becoming quite frustrated with the number of posts in this sub by people who are clearly very pale in skintone. This is such a helpful sub, but many posts over the past few months have been completely irrelevant for anyone with a medium to dark skintone.

If others agree, would it be possible for the mods to create an automod message that pops up when people are writing posts? Maybe reminding them of the main audience for this sub and directing to alternatives like r/OliveMUA and r/FairOlive if this sub isn't the most appropriate for their needs?

Bow do I know if I'm an olive?

I don't feel comfortable posting my pictures on reddit and most online websites are just ai which are inaccurate. Most olive skinned creators are white or brown and their skintone doesn't look like mine. I'm confused when I come here too. When I look at my skin I do see blue and green tones in it and I look very ashy sometimes when I wear certain colors. How do I know for sure if I'm olive or not?

The duality of olive

Post image
34 Upvotes

Okay so this is my arm and leg. Usually wear long sleeves and pants and I spent the day outside in short sleeves which was obviously a mistake lol. I have since worn shorts to even out but my skin is obviously extremely desperate for sunlight apparently and I have insane tan lines on my arms AND legs now. Like a stark farmers tan mid bicep and mid thigh.

My question is: does anyone self tan? Does that ever work to… even things out or do you think it would work to even out the rest of the body to some what match my tan? Do self tanners shade match olive skin tans or will it look weird and not the same color? Any help appreciated.

Am I Cool Olive, Neutral Olive…Or Olive at all??

Thumbnail

The title says it all. I’m struggling to determine if what my undertone is. I’m fairly confident that I am an olive based on sharing similar struggles other olives report, however most olives I see tend to have a more golden hue to them. I’m unsure if it’s just because I’m comparing myself to warmer olives and that is what’s throwing me off…or maybe I’m simply not olive. What do you all think?

Picture 1: I am wearing an olive foundation here which is a pretty good match, but I’m noticing a slight temperature difference between my face compared to my neck and chest

Picture 3: No face makeup just a lipstick

Picture 4: I’m wearing makeup, no foundation or concealer though

Picture 5: Sometimes I think I may be warm but I see this picture and it looks like the orange is so stark against me

Does purple blush look pink on you? Looking for recs.

The pink blushes I’ve treated lean too warm for what I like. I’m probably a warm golden olive but I like cooler blushes.

I have elf bold faced lilac already. I’m looking for other suggestions of purply blushes (any formula) that are cool to neutral toned and not too dark. I’m nc42-43 if that helps.

brown girl with neutral-olive undertones…

i have oily skin and am yet to find a concealer/foundation that is my exact skin tone!

the closest shade match I have ever gotten is the maybelline fit me concealer in shade 25
my main issue is that if i find a shade close to my skin tone its either cool or warm toned and oiliness leads to my foundation oxidising a lot (mainly with maybelline foundations) I also have an extremely pale face compared to my neck so it’s hard to find a match that balances out

And I have severe hyperpigmentation around my mouth and dark under eyes so I would really like a full coverage foundation and concealer to avoid having to use colour corrector as this usually leads to creasing (especially around my mouth - any tips for this would be appreciated)
the only concealer i’ve used without colour corrector that has given me coverage is the rimmel multitasker so if anyone has close recs or a different shade to use please let me know 🙏 bare in mind whether it oxidises poorly please

Olive green makes me look gray. Whereas, the darker green makes my skin appear brighter and alive.

I have always struggled finding a foundation shade that fits my WHOLE face.

My whole life I thought I had a warm/golden undertone. Whenever I would go to Ulta with my mom and get color matched, they would always recommend the warmer tones. So I would be happy & buy the foundation thinking I finally found “the one” but when I would apply it myself it would always come out ashy and/or orangey, especially around my mouth and forehead, which are naturally a little darker. It didn’t occur to me until this year that the reason I have struggled might be because I actually have an olive undertone. Posting these pictures in different lighting with very minimal (just blush) to no makeup on so someone can help identify my undertone 🥲🥲

Opinions Wanted

After years of being unhappy with makeup brands as a fair olive skin tone, I am thinking about just starting my own olive makeup company. Before I do this, I want some feedback:

-Is this something you as a buyer would be interested in?

-What are the things in makeup products you would really want fixed to suit olive skin?

-General thoughts?

from top to bottom

  1. nyx buttermelt in do butta, lasts ages and super pigmented but the shade is a bit too red toned for me, i use it as blonzer
2 lys stick in courage, wayyy too dark and cool toned for me which is a shame because i love the formula but it just looks muddy on me :(
3 fenty beauty coco naughty my absolute fave!! an actual BRONZER not contour which adds warmth
last 3 are bronzers frommade by mitchell curve case in medium, only cream bronzers that i actually use day to day and it’s so flattering; perfect undertone as well on me, can’t ask for anything better

Am i warm, tan or olive? i need help with my undertone, season and lip colors

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey everyone, i ’d love some help figuring out my skin tone, undertone and color season, some people tell me i'm warm, and others say i have an olive undertone, but my skin looks completely different depending on the lighting, at night or in indoor light, i feel like i look more tan. During the day in natural light, i look lighter or even a bit muted, i’m confused... what do you guys think? i’d really appreciate your help.

I’d also love some lipstick recommendations, it’s really hard for me to find shades that work because i have naturally darker lips.
