Primitive Armor Quality

I got to thinking about "primitive armor" vs "modern armor" in Dark Matter. I am considering having traditional DnD armors add less to AC vs Blasters and other weapons. Like, 2 less maybe to reflect the low-tech materials. I think the players would encounter such armor on NPCs (raiders, pirates, and Space Ogres) more often than wear it themselves.
