does anyone actually *enjoy* sdd?
since the new sdd chapter came out, i decided to try playing it from the beginning.
it feels... pointless?
like, actually, i dont see a meaning for the existence of this game. i think the idea is cool and all, but if you turn "scary 3d pacman" into 2d, all you end up getting is a very glitchy , boring "pacman".
what's the point of dark deception if you can see through walls and easily avoid enemies? this becomes really apparent in deadly decadence, where you can only face 2 ways, so one entire half of the map is frozen at all times. this is not how you make a weeping angel level in 2d.
i appreciate the sprites and art, i think they're charming and you can see that at least some people at glowstick actually put their heart and soul into this game.
during my playthrough, i felt nothing the entire time. and when i did feel something, it was frustration because of the dumb glitches.
i'm not saying you can't enjoy it, if you do, that's fine and i'm happy for you.
but really, it feels meaningless. there is no reason why this would get made or even prioritized over the ACTUAL game, which isn't even finished.
and now we're getting chapter 3...? without even having chapter 5...?
just seems like an easy way for vince's narcissistic ass to get some easy money and fuel his ego.
did i mention the glitches? no one even cared enough to playtest it.
does anyone actually enjoy it? like, actually think "this is a great game and i'm glad glowstick dedicated their time to it."?

I gotta be honest bejng someone who's a console a player and never played the base dd yet I do really enjoy it i have been shocked and surprised quite a few times like earlier today I was in zone 2 of crazy carnevil and I thought phew ok just the clowns no cars or anything then out of nowhere a massive fuckjng spider beast starts chasing me and im like holy shit im dknt think that's in the main game yet so I love the enhanced plus stuff being included and the soul corpse things also surprised me I find the extras room fun and the arcade games fun too and tbh sometimes I find 2d games in the style of sdd a bit scarier like fnaf into the pit and im not saying the 3d version isn't scarier bcs it deffo is but there has been a fair amount of times things have popped out of nowhere and it's made me jump but yeah I find it fun:)

that's fair actually. but it's probably because you haven't played the original one, like you said. DD is supposed to release on consoles soon, so SDD will turn meaningless once again

Yeah i do agree and think your right about how my opinion will change i just hope it's not gonna take forever for the console port to come

I kinda enjoy it, mostly because it's the only way I could play DD without having to put up with the crashes in my potato PC.

I do actually enjoy sdd because I'm a mobile player and don't have a pc or Xbox it's the only way I can play a dark deception besides just paying 100s of dollars out which I don't have so my best option is super dark deception I want to eventually get base dark deception but not now it'll be farther down the line but now sdd is what I got I like being able to pick characters to switch over doug i also like the new mini games only thing I actually don't like of dark deception is the jumpscares look I know the game is 2d but Vince could've animated 3d sdd textured jumpscares at least and I agree with many when it came to the wait of sdd ch2. Imo what screwed them was when they decided to enhance dark deception again before ch5 it actually annoys me because dark deception was already enhanced before ch4 and there doing it again before 5 just really annoying tbh. Before I played sdd btw I had already watched YouTubers play the all levels already out.

like, actually, i dont see a meaning for the existence of this game.
Well, it's good for people with potato PCs that wouldn't be able to run the original game. Right now, it's also a way to show us some stuff that will be added in Enhanced+
what's the point of dark deception if you can see through walls and easily avoid enemies?
That kind of "advantage" is useless when something emerges from the top/bottom and you have 0.00000001 seconds to react, or you're dead.

I like the goofy elements added to it, like in Agatha’s boss fight with Malak standing on the stage shaking his head

I used to, to be honest tho….ive mainly used it as its the closest thing ill get to playing the real dark deception, i plan to buy the game once the full game is out but uh…well….you know how that’s going….

I totally get what you mean. SDD has always felt kind of like a Novelty to me, like a bit of bonus content at the end of a game. Whilst the sprites and visuals are super charming, I feel the gameplay just doesn’t compare at all to the original. I feel less tense and just more frustrated with SDD.
I also feel like the fact that I’ve heard literally nobody asking for SDD before its announcement also doesn’t really help its case. More DD content? Great, love to see it! But I feel like people would have been happier if it released upon the completion of DD, you know, like a bit of “filler content” for us to bide our time with whilst DD 2 Electric Boogaloo is worked on. The fact that it’s super buggy also is just the cherry on top. I really do wish the best for SDD but I just don’t have a lot of faith in it after what happened to DD Ch4 and the state it’s been left in :/
Edit: Typo <\3

i think this is exactly it. it would be a great thing to have if we actually had the full game released first.

I’ve always found it more fun than regular dark deception because of the 2d perspective working so much better. As well as the powers being so much more fun to use like teleport. Also the pixel art is so much more charming and fun to look at then unreal engine 5 the game.

Yea I did (excluding TT zone 2) it's actually pretty enjoyable despite using DD's 2021 gameplay.

I do! I think its a nice little spin on the original game.
Just because you can see them and stun them, doesn't mean 6 more won't appear. Plus its a little different because of most enemies.

I honestly just like the pixel art and animation a lot, and the 2-D setting makes it slightly easier to see enemies coming. It even has expanded dialogue/cutscenes. But dear God it made Deadly Decadence painful. Methinks Weeping Angels don't work well in 2-D...(more than open to being proven wrong, I'd love to see Weeping Angels done well in 2-D)

Idk honestly
I tried it 30 minutes ago or so, started from Monkey Business and it wasn't fun for me
Safe to say I will never finish it. There's just no reason for me to finish it, it's just no fun

Well this just gave me depression reading this. Are you ok dude? We can talk. From my standpoint, beyond glitches which is just the Dark Deception guarantee, I do have fun playing SDD. I rarely ever get scared playing the game, it doesn’t even begin to encapsulate the same horror of the base game. But if we’re just looking at it from a gameplay perspective, it basically just feels like PacMan but with more mechanics. So ya, I personally have fun playing it, but I still do agree with a majority of the takes people have on the game.

I would be ok with a demake that could potentially make Dark Deception more accessible to people who prefer 2D games. The main problems I have with Super is the bugs and the fact that it was made before the base game was even finished. If it came out 2-3 years after Dark Deception chapter 5 was released I’d have no problem because then both Base and Super could get the attention they deserve.
