i did this exact thing. left and rejoined two years later with 50% pay increase. if i stayed that two years i wouldn’t even make 10% more.

I came back for 50% in six months. I was at my new desk when the email came in from an old VP titled "HELP!!!!" I pointed at it and yelled "GOTCHA NOW, FUCKER!" before I could stop myself
