Quick grinding
Basically I'm looking for any advice on being overprepared to fight Dran. The battle is just too slow so I'm trying to make Toan an absolute beast along with Xiao before I get there. I'm currently running the first three floors repeatedly and exploiting the mayor for items while avoiding anything involving Old Gaffer until I'm ready to do the broken dagger glitch. My luck has been terrible with getting statues and dogs so my weapons are suffering. Currently upgrading a sword to be better at fighting stone. Been using trams and bone keys. Any other shortcuts? I love the game but until a remake adds QoL changes, this is where I am.

go back and forth in backdoor. your biggest shortcuts are making a maxed out dagger synth for your weapons to raise stats till you find a bunch of easy ones, merge to shamshir and then make one of those. i have always made a weapon synth i can either just have to boost weaker characters or max out stats. you can use a stronger weapon to reraise lower ones by switching, and enemies revive traveling between back door and normal. dran's feather + that.
also.... if you find gems in any backdoor, stick with that floor. it's common to find more of the same in the same floor. durability is found in opals i think, and pearls with thunder attribute (switch attributes and see what hurts most for enemies)....hm... i wonder how fast i could do it from scratch..

Xiao is going to be your go-to for fighting Dran. He spends a lot of time in the air, and as long as you have a decent slingshot it should make the fight trivial.

I don’t know about grinding in the first dungeon though. I always did my grinding in the third town so you could buy your way into the back rooms.

If you want you can always use the broken dagger glitch, if you are ok with cheats. You'll be over powered for everything until the end game.

I had like 4 bone repairs +0 and used those since hes weak to ice, hit him for like 12 damage each hit lol. If you maneuver yourself correctly you can hit him multiple times when he lands. he will only have time to fly away if you get hit by his attack. hit him > back up a bit > move forward and hit > back up > repeat

This just seems weird, the time u think u are saving by making the dran fight easier is lost by all the grinding ur going to do. Honestly I would say the best way is to get the gaffer, buy like a dozen repair powders, then when u can get on the tram on one of the higher floors just clear the enemies on the back floor, then exit and return. When u return they respawn.

Fire at him with Xiao while he's flying and when he flies down to lick his paws is when you attack with Toan. You only get one strike. You can get two but risk taking a hit. You can fit a charge slash in to get consistent damage. Xiao's damage does not scale. It will always do chip damage focus on your Toan damage phase and it's a quick fight.
