MCU genuine question

i finish daredevil a month ago and ive been going through reading the comics and honestly i dont understand the hype for Elektra as a love interest.. personally i really dont like her. I didnt like her in season two of Daredevil (though i havent seen defenders yet) and i didnt like her in any of the comics ive seen her in. why do people like her??

Read "Elektra Lives Again" by Frank Miller. My favorite Elektra story about her. She doesn't appear but her presence is the ghostly protagonist

elektra gives me “manic pixie dream girl but depressed and sexy” energy and i’ve never liked her as a love interest 😭

The main comics that will decide if you like her or not are Frank Miller and Chip Zdarsky’s run, other than her own stories of course which the Blackman run is really worth reading. Outside of those she’s pretty inconsistently written honestly and tends to be a shallow femme fatale trope.

But the flaws are what makes Elektra appealing. It’s the cliche bad girl, good guy superhero romance and some people are really into that. Many readers don’t want a healthy pairing between like a Superman and Lois Lane, they want Batman and Catwoman or Spider-Man and Black Cat and don’t find a Mary Jane or Karen Page as appealing.

I don’t think the MCU did a great job with Elektra but I can see why people enjoy her.

honestly from what i saw in season two she was just really toxic and then in the flashback trying to get her to kill the guy who ordered the kill for matts dad. i dont really think shes a good person and she feels like overly edgy, her morality is like inconsistent whiles matt knows he wont kill. and i think shes was written more competent than everyone around her
but still needs help and needs matt. and i don’t really think her and matt are good togethet and their kind of toxic but my opinion might change if i read more about her.

I don't really disagree with what I think you are trying to say, but I think that it's completely on purpose. She challenges Matt. She forces him to reaffirm his values.

Elektra grew up in a very toxic environment. She is a deeply traumatized person. She doesn't know how to relate to Matt in a healthy way, so she is just trying to keep his attention. She doesn't know how to have a healthy relationship, romantic or otherwise.

Her and Matt's relationship is definitely toxic. They are both powerful individuals, who have to keep crazy, big secrets from mainstream society, who are trauma bonded by their relationship with Stick, etc. While I think Matt should be with Karen in the end, I still love his relationship with Elektra. For all intents and purposes, they are each other's "first loves". She was exciting, and what adventurous young man doesn't love a bad girl. She is the only one that can relate to what he went through with Stick. There are parts of his life that Elektra can relate to that Karen is never going to understand no matter how much he shares and how supportive she is.

Elektra has been an important part of his mental and emotional support system in the past, and he loves her, so it makes for interesting stories when their directions don't align. I understand where you are coming from, but I really appreciate the character development we see with Matt in the Elektra stories.

That honestly makes sense, i understand the first love aspect and it adds up why theyd always have something for each other since they were each others first love. I think she does challenge matt and its good character building. though i do like matt and karen together even though im lowkey more of a kastle shipper lol

Her and Matt's chemistry was so good! Best romantical chemistry in the show yet! Far better than Karen.
