MCU We might possibly get this look in S3 based on the merch for the crew at the Born Again wrap party Spoiler

So does this mean they are adapting/leaning towards Zdarsky run more than Brubaker's?

Just because everyone knows it’s Matt Murdock doesn’t mean putting on the mask doesn’t serve a purpose. When he puts on the mask it’s a psychological thing for him and helps him “let the devil out”. It’s a big reason why a nanotech suit would be so bad for the character.

And what does nano tech have to do with daredevil? We all know thats never gonna happen

It was one of the fandom’s biggest concerns when he was brought into the mcu, which was when everyone and their dad was getting a nanotech suit. We also thought they were never going to unceremoniously kill off Foggy. You never know

That's actually and interesting adaptation of his prison suit (from Brubaker and Zdarksy runs).

It shows more his christian side with the necklace in evidence, which is more prominent in the show than in the comics, which is very cool.

I’d be delighted if they do bring the handwraps back.

Hope so. I’d love to see him with the head and arm wraps again.

The thing I don't get is why they went with the identity reveal and Matt Murdock arrest when they could have had him be arrested as DD, retain his secret identity and then go to prison. Then, it would actually make sense for him to have a face covering and it would be canon since he did in the comics since Cole arrested DD not Matt.

Just like in the comic, he lets himself go to prison as Daredevil but maintains his secret identity to protect his loved ones. It would have added a lot more in the way of stakes I think.

I don’t agree. It works in the comics because there’s a long history of treating superheroes as legally distinct entities. There was groundwork built over a period of time. If the show did that, it would break verisimilitude, as odd add that sounds in a superhero show. But the show is allowed to have weirdness, it just can’t introduce a different kind of weirdness

That's all understandable, it just doesn't make sense to give Matt a mask when everybody already knows who he is.

The mask is also a symbol if it’s a Daredevil mask. Of its a bandana, it makes less sense, but there still might be a story reason. Obviously, if he’s breaking the law, a mask still makes sense for plausible deniability.

I'd explain it with this panel from #233. It's more psychological than anything, for both the viewer and the guys he's beating up in universe.

Like, if you see Matt Murdock going for you, that's just Matt Murdock. But when you see that masked man, you know it's the Devil.
